 Televised Revolution – Episode 249 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 48:34

With the closure of the Olympics this past weekend, Australian television sprung to life once more as TV networks tried to start the downhill run toward the end of the ratings year with some massive launches. The highly anticipated (by some) return of Big Brother was a significant player in the TV viewing week. We talk about our thoughts on the return of this show, while also looking at the TV news that defined the week. On Episode 249 we discuss: The return of Big Brother. Ronn Moss farewells Bold & the Beautiful. Telstra invest in Internet video streaming and analytics company Ooyala. The popularity of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air in Guantanamo Bay Prison.  Televised Revolution – Episode 245 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:23

In somewhat of an experiment, we have decided to try video streaming the Televised Revolution podcast as we record it. A couple of years ago we used to produce the podcast as a live to air radio show on Brisbane community radio station Triple Zed and while the podcast certainly comes together much easier than the radio show did, we are missing the spirit of the live broadcast. For the first recording, it is pretty far from where we would like it to be, but we don't think it came out too badly either. So, please excuse some of the technical issues with this weeks show. The podcast will continue to come out as per normal, but we're just adding a video element to it. On this weeks show, the panel discuss: Ten partner with Zeebox for a new social check-in app. The new Barbarella TV series is off to a promising start for fans of the original. Locals decry the representation of being dumb, drunk, and racist. And much, much more. At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).

 Televised Revolution – Episode 244 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:51

It is a rarity of late, but this week brings the full panel together. Dan, Simon, and Dennis voyage through this weeks television news with some disturbing detours along the way. In terms of TV news, up for discussion this week: Ten Breakfast farewells its Executive Producer. Foxtel announce a new app for the Olympics. Archie meets the New Direction kids from Glee. Ernest Borgnine passes away. At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).

 Televised Revolution – Episode 241 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 49:26

It's a low and lazy week here at Televised Revolution where we luxuriously take our time with some important issues of the day. What happens when co-host Dennis actually listens to what Dan & Simon have told him for months and starts watching Game of Thrones? The answer: He loves it and won't shut up about it. Also, we take a look at the new Ikea television set and we discuss the tipping point between rampant piracy and starting to pay for content in the wake of the Fairfax situation this week. At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).

 Televised Revolution – Episode 240 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 44:40

We're experiencing the growing pains of the television industry. As traditional models seek to find their place in the new televisual landscape, we're seeing them try to adapt to what is taking place around them. For Nine, it is an attempt to meet their competitors at Seven in the social world with a new check-in app. For US cable giant HBO, it is an attempt to firm their position as a traditional broadcaster despite the pleas from an online marketplace. And for Televised Revolution? Well, there's no pain here. We're just along for the ride. This week Dan and Simon take a look at: The claims that Ten are seeking to poach Karl Stefanovic for a new-look The Project. Nine get set to launch Jump In, their attempt at a TV check-in app that looks set to tap into the many download / minimal use audience that Fango maintain. Ten lose their head of Sales. Apple host WWDC - What TV goodies did they have in store for us? Big Brother returns across two channels. HBO won't take my money. At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).

 Televised Revolution – Episode 239 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 56:08

We set our focus this week on subscription TV services. After examining the news this week that Foxtel may be seeking to strike deals with movie studios directly rather than by going through longtime providers The Movie Network and Premium Movie Partnership, we set our focus on one of the newer online TV distribution platforms: The BBC iPlayer. Dan took a look at the iPlayer service in November last year, but was enthused at the chance to have a chat with John Beohm, the Programme Manager for the BBC iPlayer. John was good enough to give us some of his time this week as we discuss the iPlayer platform, programme selection decisions, and the relationship that exists between Programmer and Viewer on a platform such as this. At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).

 Televised Revolution – Episode 238 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 39:42

To reference the heavily pirated in Australia series Game of Thrones "Winter Is Coming". As we all settle in for the winter and ramp up our TV watching, we find that there seems to be less on the TV to watch this week. It just seems to be one of those weeks. Or so one would hope. Unfortunately, the weeks TV news and events seem to have just as much to offer. Undeterred, we strive to get through it this week. But, what is it that is up for discussion? The Foxtel / Austar merger is likely to claim some scalps. Telstra get Good in their bid for a new digital chief. Go Back To Where You Came From embraces the razzle dazzle of celebrities. LG launch a new Smart TV Upgrade box. Ten buy The Audience. We also offer some TV highlights and a good dose of general TV-related chit chat. At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).

 Televised Revolution – Episode 237 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 36:11

In a move that could only have been intended to shock us all, regular Televised Revolution panelist and dedicated hedonist Dennis managed to surprise all in the room by coming to the podcast recording with stories and prepared TV Highlights. For regular listeners to the show, this is an episode that cannot be missed. This week the panel discuss: Quickflix is now available on the iPad and iPhone. OzTAM reveal just how many folks are still watching traditional TV broadcasts and how much they're watching. Ten announce a new late night news program. Just what are the most popular shows on iTunes? The man who created the cordless remote control passed away. Just how many people are illegally downloading Game of Thrones? And how many of them are Australian? At Televised Revolution, we look forward to receiving your mail and check us out on the Twitter. You can also find the podcast on iTunes (please leave us a review, it helps people find the show).
