(The Executive Council of Australian Jews (ECAJ) sincerely apologized to the victims of child sexual abuse in the Jewish community and their advocate Manny Waks, for not having done more to recognize their suffering and healing process and committed to do much more in the future. The Jewish Taskforce Against Family Violence stated that they will close down this month having fulfilled their mandate and believing that they have made an important contribution to this urgent issue within the Jewish community and in relevant organizations such as Jewish Care. Australian Jewish community leaders welcomed the recommendations of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Sections 18C and 18D of the Racial Discrimination Act, and commended the recommended changes to the complaints process with the Human Rights Commission.    )

A new agreement between the Australian QANTAS and Israeli El AL airlines will allow passengers of both lines to co-share tickets, bookings, points, airport facilities and other services, when travelling on one or both of these carriers to Israel or Australia. Two former Labor Prime Ministers Bob Hawke and Kevin Rudd called for Australia to immediately recognize a Palestinian State, whilst hundreds of demonstrators gathered with Palestinian flags, pro-Palestine and anti-Israel placards, including images of PM Netanyahu depicted as Adolf Hitler, in front of the Sydney Town Hall on Thursday. PM Malcolm Turnbull announced that he would be participating in the 100th Anniversary of the victorious charge by the ANZAC Light Cavalry at Beersheba, in Israel, in October this year.
