I have to start my thanking the many thousands of people who came out and packed the Pink Saturday on The Castro Dance Floor this year. It was the largest Pink Saturday gathering to date with an estimated 200,000 in attendance. And most of you were on my dance floor that extended the entire length of Castro Street between 18th and Market. Your were truly an inspirational group and I had a fantastic time. The Big Room Returns Two weekends ago I had the opportunity to headline The House of Blues in L.A for a fantastic packed house. It made me realize how clubs & events on the West Coast get some much smaller in the winter. And the size of the room alters your sets dramatically. As a 20+ year veteran of the Gay Circuit, Bear and Leather club scenes, I’ve had the honor of touring and co-headlining with some of the communities biggest acts from Tina Cousins, Kristine W, Amber, Deborah Cox, Abagail to my local girl Vicki Shepard at circuit parties and on RSVP cruises. But with no disrespect intended to my Diva’s, opening for The Pet Shop Boys just takes things to an all new level for me. I could not be more thrilled and honored to have be asked to be their opening act - - - and for two nights. Having licensed Pet Shop Boys tracks in the past for compilation series Circuit Grooves, I never thought I’d actually be opening for them some day. The band specifically asked for a mix of “minimal, underground, non-commercial” dance music. So because they also asked that I start dark and build to a fever pitch, this 90 minute set takes you on quite an interesting journey. This is way darker and minimal than my fans are used to me playing. I was surprised that I got such a massive response to the Mondo Homo Disco set. I set out to do a part two with F.H.D but there were just too many tracks I wanted to used that didn't completely fall into the "no electro" genre. So F.H.D is a bit of both the IBeam inspired Happy Disco House and some slightly harder tracks with a light electro influence. While none are heavy electro tracks, a few have a strong electro influence, which is where much of the current scene in leaning.
