The Great Soap Debate | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3600

Taxes. The economy. Foreign policy. Those are none of the issues that will be discussed in the first soap opera debate. Soaps In Depth's executive editor Richard Simms and soapcentral.com's Dan J Kroll will tackle the serious issues facing soap opera fans today -- Would The Bold and the Beautiful fare better as a 60-minute soap? Which makes a better pairing -- General Hospital's Samantha with Jason or John McBain? Will All My Children and One Life to Live ever return to the airwaves? It's an hour of lively, spirited soap debate that may not change the world, but for at least an hour, it will do what all good soaps should do: provide a temporary getaway from the real world. Fans can also submit questions in advance for consideration through our Feedback section Listener Call-In Line: 866.472.5788

Remembering John Ingle, and All My Children, As the World Turns, and Guiding Light memories | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3600

It's been a somber week for soap fans. On September 16, the daytime community lost General Hospital star John Ingle. Ingle, best known as General Hospital's Edward Quartermaine and for a two-year stint as Mickey Horton on Days of our Lives, had been battling cancer. He was 84. September also brings about the anniversary of the final episodes of All My Children, As the World Turns, and Guiding Light. The three soaps combined for more than 160 years of television history, and we're honoring that history by allowing fans to talk about what made those three shows so special. This week's Soap Central Live is all about reminiscing and sharing memories. Fans are invited to call in and talk about their favorite Edward Quartermaine moments, or to talk about favorite moments from one of their canceled soaps.

Soap Central Improv with the cast of Scandal Crest | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 3600

On Friday, September 21, the soap opera goes to somewhere it's never gone before: the world of unscripted drama. Forget what you've heard about so-called "reality" series replacing soaps: this time those soapy twists and turns truly will be unexpected. An all-star cast is teaming up for a live performance of the improvisational soap Scandal Crest. And while the performers will be given notes on where each scene needs to go, there will be no scripts to memorize. The dialogue and the story will all be made up on the fly... live. Scandal Crest stars past and present soap stars Krista Allen (ex-Billie Reed, Days of our Lives), Molly Burnett (ex-Melanie Jonas, DAYS), Diana Costa, Sean Kanan (Deacon Sharpe, The Bold and the Beautiful/The Young and the Restless), Dan Kane, Eric Martsolf (Brady Black, DAYS), Jen Parker, Dwayne Perkins, Dale Raoul, and Freddie Smith (Sonny Kiriakis, DAYS).
