One thing kids learn really quickly is how to get even. Seeking revenge is a natural reaction when were offended. But the Bible commands us to not seek revenge. Lets rise above our instincts and allow God to be the One who makes things right!
Resolving conflicts with others can be as painful as it is necessary. We must extend forgiveness when every emotion tells us to get even. In this message we hear practical counsel on reconciliationmaking things right with God and others.
Most people look forward to getting together with friends and relatives. But many dread these times because it means facing those whove hurt us, or worse, those weve hurt. How can we put damaged relationships back on track?
Ever hurt someone you care about? Handling the ongoing pain we cause when we sin is a daunting but necessary task. How should we seek forgiveness from those weve hurt? Can we expect to see God bring new hope out of our bad situations?
You cant avoid gravity, and you cant change the speed of light. Neither can you bypass Gods order that says you reap what you sow. God uses this principle to teach His children to avoid sin. Sometimes though, the lessons are hard.
Often we get tripped up in the race of life by returning to the detours of past behavior. For some, it seems there is no way to break out of a cycle of sin, forgiveness, restoration, and back to sin again. Is there hope for those who are stuck in such a ruthless pattern?
After great spiritual failures we say with King David, My sin is ever before me. So how can our sin not be before God? The answer lies in the concept of covering. There is hope for all who fear their sins on earth will never be forgotten in heaven.
Many who struggle with guilt find it returns to haunt them even after theyve sought forgiveness from God. The good news is that God helps us deal with sins consequences, since we are clean in His sight through Christ.
Maybe youve stolen money, had an affair, or even gotten away with a serious felony. Life is closing in on you, and you have no peace and no future hope. Do you want the key to freedom from guilt? There is forgiveness which comes from God as a gift.
Many people carry a paralyzing burden of guilt for past sins. Beset by a crushing load, they face each new day with yesterdays emotional baggage. God provides hope and a way out for those bearing guilt. We dont have to carry it for a lifetime.
When we sin greatly, many of us flee from God. Then we find sin taking us where we really dont want to go. But when we become weary, some make the crucial choice to return to the Father. Why dont we flee to God in the first place?
Lets never forget that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future. Repairing sins damage means reestablishing contact with God and rebuilding relationships with those weve hurt.
In Gethsemane, Jesus roused His sleeping disciples, asking, Could you not pray with Me one hour? In this message, each of us is asked the same question. Will we covenant to set aside one hour a week for Jesus?
If you visit Gethsemane, you can see the ancient olive trees. It is a place for tears. There in the garden, Jesus asked the disciples to pray with Him. They fell asleep, causing the Savior to ask, Could you not watch with Me one hour?
