Monday, August 10, 2015 Today, on Point of View, Penna Dexter is your host. In the first segment, The Stream’s Rachel Alexander joins us to discuss the Presidential Debate. She will discuss who shined on-stage, who stumbled and what to expect from the candidates as they move onto the CNN debate next month. In the second segment, we are joined by Tim Graham, Media Research Council’s Director of Media Analysis. He will tell us more about beyond the disturbing nature of the Planned Parenthood footage.  The Media Research Center has discovered that preceding its expected release, the organization sent letters pressuring reporters and producers to not cover the video. Also joining us on this issue is Amelia Hamilton, a reporter for The Stream who has been following the story since the first video was released. She highlights how the latest video clearly dispels three lies Planned Parenthood has been trying to sell to the public. In the final segment, we hear from Tim Winter, president of Parents Television Council. He tells us more about a new study indicating that sex actually doesn’t sell, after all. And neither does violence. What this means is that there’s overwhelming scientific evidence that ads using sex and violence to sell products or services may simply be a bad strategy.

Together they will break down the news from the week and also provide feedback on the presidential debates.        

Thursday, August 6, 2015 Our in-studio guest today is Christian scholar and bestselling author, Dr. Timothy Dailey who discusses his book, The Paranormal Conspiracy: The Truth about Ghosts, Aliens and Mysterious Beings. She will discuss a recent article published in the Des Moines Register about the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. In the second hour, David Ireland, founding and lead pastor of Christ Church, joins us to discuss his book, The Weapon of Prayer: Maximize Your Greatest Strategy Against the Enemy. Ireland provides an in-depth, yet easily applicable, teaching to help you become a victorious prayer warrior.

Tuesday, August 4, 2015 On the show today, Kerby welcomes back, author and social critic, Dr. Os Guinness. They discuss Os’s new book, Fool’s Talk: Recovering the Art of Christian Persuasion. Guinness writes that Jesus never spoke to two people the same way, and neither should we. Through this book, Os will help us discover afresh the persuasive power of Christian witness.      

Monday, August 3, 2015 On Point of View today Kerby welcomes Russell Moore eighth president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. He discusses his book, Onward: Engaging the Culture Without Losing the Gospel. In this his latest book, Moore focuses on the need for a church that speaks to social and political issues with a bigger vision in mind: that of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the second hour Katie Yoder of the Media Research Center tells us about a new study that shows that ABC, CBS and NBC have spent a combined total of 11 minutes and 13 seconds on the Planned Parenthood videos since the Center for Medical Progress released the first video two weeks ago. By contrast, they’ve devoted over 14 minutes of coverage to Cecil the Lion in just two days.

Thursday, July 30, 2015 On today’s show Kerby welcomes back Glenn T. Stanton who is the director for Family Formation Studies at Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs and a research fellow at the Institute of Marriage and Family in Ottawa. He will revisit the topic of his book, Loving My (LGBT) Neighbor: Being Friends in Grace and Truth. In the second hour, J.D. Greear, lead pastor of The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina, discusses his latest book, Gaining by Losing: Why the Future Belongs to Churches that Send. In this new book, Greear explores the idea of the American church’s focus on keeping instead of sending.      

Wednesday, July 29, 2015 Today on Point of View, in the first hour Kerby welcomes Dr. Karen Swallow Prior, Professor of English at Liberty University and Mary Demuth author of  Not Marked: Finding Hope and Healing after Sexual Abuse to discuss the topic of child sexual abuse and sexual predators. In the second hour, Jim Cymbala pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle, will speak about his book Storm: Hearing Jesus for the Times We Live In.

Tuesday, July 28, 2015 Today on Point of View we hear from history professor at Baylor University, Thomas S. Kidd. He discusses his book, George Whitefield: America’s Spiritual Founding Father. This biography explores the extraordinary career of the most influential figure in the first generation of Anglo-American evangelical Christianity, examining his sometimes troubling stands on the pressing issues of the day. Our second hour, in-studio guest is Dr. Albert Reyes president and CEO of Buckner International, a global Christian ministry founded in 1879 in Dallas, Texas focused on serving vulnerable children, orphans, seniors, and their families. He will tell us more about his book, The Jesus Agenda: Becoming an Agent of Redemption.    

Monday, July 27, 2015 In the wake of  The Center for Medical Progress releasing the second Planned Parenthood video exposé, Family Research Council calls for a moratorium on taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood. The video launched investigations into Planned Parenthood’s operations in seven states as well as at the federal level.  Arina Grossu, director at the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council and Anika Smith, columnist for The Stream will tell us more about this issue. In the second hour, we hear from author, Ryan Anderson. He tells us more about his soon to be published book, Truth Overruled: The Future of Marriage and Religious Freedom. In this first book to dissect the Court’s ruling, Anderson unveils what the Court said, how they got it wrong, and the alarming threat Americans face in the wake of the landmark ruling.  “It’s not over,” says Anderson. “The Supreme Court’s ruling is not just going to impact marriage and democratic self-government, but also civil society, religious freedom, education, our children and grandchildren.”

Thursday, July 23, 2015 On the show today, Kerby will discuss with writer and blogger, Sarah Geis the issue of doubt and how sometimes as Christians we can mishandle it. When believers face religious doubts, they have for generations been told to “just have more faith.” In recent years, a rival, apologetics-oriented approach has been on the rise. Sarah explains how this is essential, and why it must continue to be encouraged.      

Wednesday, July 22, 2015 Joining Kerby on the show today is Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association. He will tell us more about his recent article on not giving up on the culture wars. In the article, he recommends that “we  stay in the know and stay in the battle.” In the second hour, we hear from Arthur C. Brooks who is the president of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a public policy think tank in Washington, DC. He is also a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. He discusses his book, The Conservative Heart: How to Build a Fairer, Happier, and More Prosperous America. In his book, Brooks addresses this paradox: capitalism has been the greatest tool to draw people out of poverty, yet in America, conservatives who champion this system are viewed as callous and uninterested in helping the poor.
