Monday, August 10, 2015 Today, on Point of View, Penna Dexter is your host. In the first segment, The Stream’s Rachel Alexander joins us to discuss the Presidential Debate. She will discuss who shined on-stage, who stumbled and what to expect from the candidates as they move onto the CNN debate next month. In the second segment, we are joined by Tim Graham, Media Research Council’s Director of Media Analysis. He will tell us more about beyond the disturbing nature of the Planned Parenthood footage.  The Media Research Center has discovered that preceding its expected release, the organization sent letters pressuring reporters and producers to not cover the video. Also joining us on this issue is Amelia Hamilton, a reporter for The Stream who has been following the story since the first video was released. She highlights how the latest video clearly dispels three lies Planned Parenthood has been trying to sell to the public. In the final segment, we hear from Tim Winter, president of Parents Television Council. He tells us more about a new study indicating that sex actually doesn’t sell, after all. And neither does violence. What this means is that there’s overwhelming scientific evidence that ads using sex and violence to sell products or services may simply be a bad strategy.

Monday, August 3, 2015 On Point of View today Kerby welcomes Russell Moore eighth president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention. He discusses his book, Onward: Engaging the Culture Without Losing the Gospel. In this his latest book, Moore focuses on the need for a church that speaks to social and political issues with a bigger vision in mind: that of the gospel of Jesus Christ. In the second hour Katie Yoder of the Media Research Center tells us about a new study that shows that ABC, CBS and NBC have spent a combined total of 11 minutes and 13 seconds on the Planned Parenthood videos since the Center for Medical Progress released the first video two weeks ago. By contrast, they’ve devoted over 14 minutes of coverage to Cecil the Lion in just two days.

Monday, July 27, 2015 In the wake of  The Center for Medical Progress releasing the second Planned Parenthood video exposé, Family Research Council calls for a moratorium on taxpayer funding to Planned Parenthood. The video launched investigations into Planned Parenthood’s operations in seven states as well as at the federal level.  Arina Grossu, director at the Center for Human Dignity at Family Research Council and Anika Smith, columnist for The Stream will tell us more about this issue. In the second hour, we hear from author, Ryan Anderson. He tells us more about his soon to be published book, Truth Overruled: The Future of Marriage and Religious Freedom. In this first book to dissect the Court’s ruling, Anderson unveils what the Court said, how they got it wrong, and the alarming threat Americans face in the wake of the landmark ruling.  “It’s not over,” says Anderson. “The Supreme Court’s ruling is not just going to impact marriage and democratic self-government, but also civil society, religious freedom, education, our children and grandchildren.”

Wednesday, July 22, 2015 Joining Kerby on the show today is Tim Wildmon, president of the American Family Association. He will tell us more about his recent article on not giving up on the culture wars. In the article, he recommends that “we  stay in the know and stay in the battle.” In the second hour, we hear from Arthur C. Brooks who is the president of the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), a public policy think tank in Washington, DC. He is also a contributing opinion writer for The New York Times. He discusses his book, The Conservative Heart: How to Build a Fairer, Happier, and More Prosperous America. In his book, Brooks addresses this paradox: capitalism has been the greatest tool to draw people out of poverty, yet in America, conservatives who champion this system are viewed as callous and uninterested in helping the poor.
