 DH2.2 LE Snowboard | File Type: video/x-m4v | Duration: :60

Raised in Tacoma, Washington, Art Chantry worked in Seattle for nearly three decades. Over the years he managed to produce a body of work that, however unorthodox, still rivals some of the best graphic design in the world. With a slew of design awards under his belt, his work has made an impression on the world and has been exhibited by some of the most prestigious museums and galleries: the Louvre, The Smithsonian, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to name a few. In 1993 The Seattle Art Museum honored him with a one-man retrospective of his work and in the summer of 2003 PS1, in association with the Museum of Modern Art, did the same. His work has been published in hundreds of books and magazines and in 2001 Chronicle Books published the monograph of his work, Some People Can’t Surf, written by Julie Lasky. In fact, there is even a book about Chantry’s work published in China and written entirely in Chinese.

Membrain®ThinLight top sheets. Ultra thin, ultra smooth.Ride lightens the load with Membrain® top sheets. Weighing less than half of traditional top sheets, Membrain® maintains a smooth feel by infusing urethane into fabric. Along with pushing limits in the world of lightweight, this process also allows us to push the boundaries when it comes to graphics. By utilizing the textures and aesthetics associated with a variety of fabrics, Ride is able to achieve graphic tricks that are simply not possible with conventional printing techniques. Lightening the likes of the Society, Concept UL, Concept TMS, Yukon, Slackcountry, Crush, DH2, Compact & Canvas models.

School’s in, suckers! The Classroom Collaboration hits the slopes. After taking a long, hard look at other artistic collaborations across the industry, Ride’s designers took a step back and thought about the kind of collab they wanted on their ’09-’10 gear and decided to strike out in a new direction. Instead of teaming up with a hoity toity artist, Ride embarked on a collaborative project with Pam Neithercott’s third period art class at Denny Middle School (West Seattle, Wash.). Promoting both art and snowboarding within the local youth community, Ride sought out a nearby Seattle school with an art program in need and proudly donated funds for art supplies and provided an on-hill snowboard day for the kids. The on-hill field trip took place Monday, March 30th. The Ride in-house crew met up with 20 Denny students at their school, hopped on the charter bus and headed up to the Summit at Snoqualmie. The weather and temp made it ideal for these first-timers, and with a good ratio of students to seasoned shredders, the kids were on the lift and riding in no time.Special thanks go out to the Summit at Snoqualmie, Smith Optics and POW Gloves for their generosity and contributing to the success of the day. We have to also give props to the crew of in-house people that took time to teach and ride with the kids; all had a great time and your efforts made it possible. Last, but certainly not least, thanks to teachers, Pamela and Roxanna, and all the kids that participated, you guys are awesome and we hope to see you out there again soon!
