 Monty Python – part 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:03:46

35 years ago today…Monty Python’s concert at the The Royal Theatre in Drury Lane (best known at the home of the muffin man) was recorded for their 1974 Live at Drury Lane album.  To celebrate this moment in Monty Python history, we feature nothing from this recording in the first episode of the Gazillionth (or so) Monty Python Podcast hosted by MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann. Instead, you will hear clips of classic routines and songs recorded for some of their other classic albums, as well as comments from cast members Terry Jones and Eric Idle and MP historian Kim Howard Johnson about how politics, history and the news inspired their work. In other Python news, a charity screening of Life of Brian is set for this Sat March 28 in the Welsh village of Aberystwyth, where the fim was banned in 1979.   Terry Jones and Michael Palin will appear, but not Eric Idle, most likely due to a previously scheduled brunch the next morning to celebrate his 66th birthday. Producer: Joyride Media We are contractually obligated to show this album cover.

 Pearl Jam Ten Code – Part 5 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:01:57

Today’s Pearl Jam Ten Code episode goes back to the 1991 Eddie Vedder interview and his thoughts on stage diving and other antics he frequently performed on stage back then.  It’s interesting to hear his perspective back then on how he didn’t plan to keep doing those things once fans became more familiar with their songs.   We then launch into a high energy live performance from the TEN tour of “State of Love and Trust” from the 1992 “Drop in the Park” show featured in the 4-LP Vinyl Edition release. www.pearljam.com

Monty Python Podcast hosted by Keith Olbermann premieres Monday, March 23 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:01:29

Legacy Podcasts salutes the 40th anniversary of Monty Python’s Flying Circus with “The Gazillionth (or so) Monty Python Podcast” hosted by their biggest fan in cable news – MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann. March is John Philip Sousa’s favorite month, and 23 is a lucky number inspired by the recent news of Python’s 23,000% DVD sales increase due to youtube.  Therefore, our four-part podcast series will launch on Monday, March 23. The series features clips of their sketches and musical pieces they recorded for their string of classic albums that brought their comedy empire beyond TV and film to the most enduring entertainment device of them all – the turntable.  You’ll also hear interviews with cast members Eric Idle, John Cleese, and Terry Jones, plus Carol Cleveland and many others. We know you can’t wait until Monday so here’s Keith Olbermann (aka K-Dog) with a preview of what you’ll hear. Producer: Joyride Media Update:  Holy hand grenade shuts down London pub.  You can’t make this stuff up.

 Pearl Jam Ten Code – Part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:02:15

In today’s Ten Code episode, we hear from TEN producer Brendan O’Brien, who came back to remix all the original album tracks for a bonus disc in this reissue.  You’ll also hear a clip of “Why Go” – a great example of the more in-your-face sound O’Brien sought for these remixes. www.pearljam.com

 Pearl Jam Ten Code – Part 1 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:03:40

Welcome to The Ten Code – a 10 part series with the inside story of Pearl Jam’s debut album TEN as told by the band.  Each piece will include band member interviews and a clip of a previously unreleased bonus track from the expanded TEN reissues in stores on March 24. The first episode features a clip of “Black” from their 1992 MTV Unplugged performance – available now on DVD for the first time in the 3-disc Ten – Deluxe Edition.   Jeff Ament adds how an early show in Europe helped give them the confidence to do acoustic shows.  Sam Cooke 4 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:09:51

Sam Cooke’s popularity didn’t stop him from trying to improve himself and his music, from an intellectual standpoint.   Having started with traditional hymns and adding new lyrics, he had attained success and kept challenging himself intellectually, reading everything from Aristotle to James Baldwin.  In this podcast, author Peter Guralnick, Sam’s brother LC Cooke and musicians Bobby Womack and Hal Blaine describe the man’s motivations as he created Night Beat, the blues recording literally recorded in the middle of the night.  Recording engineer Al Schmitt, who worked on some of Cooke’s best known music: “He was really hands on in the studio… just amazing.” Songs included: “What A Wonderful World” “For Sentimental Reasons” “Trouble Blues” “Fool’s Paradise” and “Bring it on Home to Me” Producer:  Joyride Media
