 Open Metalcast Episode #69 - Pranky Cranky | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 47:44

Are the April Fools Jokes done yet? Seems every April Fools I want to disconnect from the Internet and find a secret, undisclosed bunker until it's all over. Fortunately we were able to pick up some great music before the April Fools nonsense really took effect, and were able to bury ourselves in our headphones while the "jokes" flew overhead. And we have some serious metal music for you, with the first EP from Keoma kicking off the show. There's also some great tracks from Kill the Klown and Panic.0, along with the sludgy goodness of Iron and Stone. Morgana vs. Morgana bring their amazing synthesis of Tool to the fore, and The Land of Shadows haunt the darkest places of your soul, but despair not, for Karlahan bring us out of the depths with their brand of Symphonic Death Metal. And we learn what the experimental tag is really for with Fanttasma's amazing music. No joke, this is some of the finest Creative Commons metal music. Shownotes after the break: * (00:10) A Time For You by Keoma from A Time For You – EP (BY-NC-SA) * (05:29) Kill the klown – Hateful by L'angolo della follia from L'angolo della follia special edition 11-11-11 (BY-NC-SA) * (10:05) Butchers Of Souls by Panic.0 from Panic (BY-NC-ND) * (14:07) Glaciers by Iron & Stone from Maelstrom (BY-NC-ND) * (18:41) De Lo Inevitable by Morgana Vs Morgana from …de lo inevitable (BY-NC-ND) * (26:37) The Land Of Shadows – Flowers Of My Life by The Land Of Shadows from Dark Romantika (BY-NC-SA) * (36:00) Twilight by Karlahan from Metal-Libre.org Origins I (BY-NC-ND) * (42:48) Life is War by Fanttasma from Another Sleepless Night (BY-NC-SA) Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, or sacrifice the bodies of the April 1st pranksters to them. Wait, that’s not good. Nevermind. Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it!  Open Metalcast Episode #68: Tributes and Compilations | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:35

Back when there were record stores, there were some places that sold compilation albums of different artists. Sometimes they were full priced, and other times they were either inexpensive or free. There's also certain magazines like Metal Hammer, Terrorizer, and PROG that also ship with compilation discs. I always look forward to these discs because they give me a chance to sample bands I might not otherwise hear. Our friends at Metal Libre have put together a series of (currently four) compilation albums showcasing some of the best of Creative Commons Metal Music. Lots of these bands have featured on here, but what's really great is there's stuff I haven't heard yet, and will check out later on. Similarly the folks at Irish Metal Archive have similarly put together a staggering compilation of artists hailing from Ireland. Definitely check out these compilations, and give these bands some support. And lastly there's a great project over at MP3Tribute.com where Jairus Kahn of Ad·ver·sary is compiling a tribute to Aaron Swartz and his legacy by compiling 100 previously non-CC albums and releasing them under a Creative Commons License. it's unfortunate this is in the face of Aaron taking his life, but we close out this episode with one of the tracks from this project. You can find that track and all of the great CC-Licensed Metal Music after the break: * (00:09) Metaphysical Contradiction by CHOSEN from RESOLUTION (BY-NC-SA) * (07:15) Waiting by Ophyra from Post Mortem (BY-NC-ND) * (13:21) Destiny Invited by Dusk by Serpenthia from Metal-Libre.org Origins I (BY-NC-SA) * (17:55) Oscuro renacer by Aesir from Metal-Libre.org Origins I (Copyleft (CC-BY)) * (21:41) Funeral Rites by Overlord from The Undead Cantata (BY-NC-ND) * (24:22) M-16 by Napalm Strike from Demo 2013 (BY-NC-ND) * (26:29) Calabozos by Bukowski from Split w/ Bestial Vomit & Grind Bastards (BY-SA) * (29:01) Snipe The Lamb by AeSect from Irish Metal Archive (BY-NC-ND) * (35:09) Anchorite by Acumen Nation from Transmissions From Eville (BY-NC-ND) Please support the bands in this show! Buy a T-Shirt, head to the shows, or pick them up a beer at their show. Wait, that's not good. Nevermind. Whatever you can do to help these bands keep making music, please do it!  Open Metalcast Episode #66: Meteoric Sonic Boom | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 53:09

Apparently there was a meteor that exploded with enough force over Russia to break windows and cause all sorts of problems for people. Hopefully your neighbors' windows will be strong enough to withstand the sonic detonation awaiting you in this episode. And there's plenty of music in this episode with two longer tracks from Lacaille's Shroud and Visions of Tragedy. Lest you think this is another "Long Songs" episode, we finish off with some shorter fare from New Folder, Head Takers, HYDRA, Keoma, The Arapahoes, and finish off with The Navidson Record.  Open Metalcast Episode #65: Bowl of Super | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 38:55

Apparently there was a power outage during the Super Bowl that lasted around 34 minutes. I wish we'd known earlier, because this episode of Open Metalcast weighs in around 39 minutes of Creative Commons Metal Music. Instead of dead air waiting for some sportball to resume, you could have been listening to all of the great music in this show. Alas, they probably filled the time with useless banter and commercials. At least you'll be able to hear some of the finest Creative Commons Metal Music around. And you can share it with your friends outside of a private home exhibition.
