GLMX #33: Finding God in the Midst of Calamity and Disaster | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 872

Over the past couple of months, the world has been hit by disasters like never before. Just think back, and you will remember the devastating earthquake in New Zealand, and then the horrible earthquake which was followed by a crushing tsunami that hit Japan. From the disaster in Japan alone, over 12,000 lives were lost and countless thousands were displaced and left without homes and other necessities. In the United States, massive flooding along the Mississippi River has cost many people their lives and their homes. And just this past week, a deadly outbreak of tornadoes swept across the midwest region of our country causing catastrophic damage in places like Joplin, Missouri. Already, over 500 people have been killed by tornadoes this year. And we've heard of other disasters as well -- killer tsunamis, devastating earthquakes, massive hurricanes, raging floods, and out of control fires. Nature has dealt staggering blows to the earth and its people over the years. Many of these events happen without warning. Each year millions of people are faced with the daunting destruction caused by the forces of nature as they storm into their lives. The impact on our families, our cities, and our country may occur in just a few minutes, but dealing with these overwhelming disasters continues long after the initial catastrophe. Natural disasters are beyond our control. We cannot prevent them and run away from them, but we can turn to God for help in times of trouble. Although we can't prevent disasters from happening (many times we can't even issue warnings in time) there are some things coming that we can prepare for now. + Plus, listen to Nicole C. Mullen singing "I Am"

The Power of Prayer and Being in Partnership With God (Gospel Light Minute #9) | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 396

For eight years, she hosted her self-titled television show, which is now in nationwide syndication. She graduated from Mt. Holyoke College and Emory University School of Law. After college she became the highest-ranking African-American woman at Delta Air Lines, serving as senior attorney and manager of public relations. This position earned her a spot on Ebony magazine's "100 Best and Brightest Women in Corporate America." After leaving the corporate world, she became Georgia's first African-American Chief Presiding Judge of a state court and department as well as the head of one of the largest juvenile court systems in the country. While leading many cases involving children, she became interested in creating positive solutions for families. This led her to start “Parent Power Now”, the premiere online parenting network. Growing up in a small Baptist church, which she still attends today, she credits her parents, especially her father who died suddenly over 17 years ago, for teaching her to have her own direct relationship with God and to make prayer the source of her strength. She says that the power of prayer continues to be an anchor in her life, and that as we live life, we have to be in partnership with God and live life with purpose and intention. Her name is Judge Glenda Hatchett.

GLMX #32: The World Did Not End as Predicted, but It Will One Day -- Here is What You Must Do to Be Saved | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1040

The false prophet, Harold Camping's prediction about the second coming of Christ and the rapture of the church did not happen, as many true Christian leaders said it would not happen. The Bible says in Matthew 24:36, "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Just because this false prophet was wrong, do not get a false sense of security because the world will end one day, and you need to be ready. Here is how you can be ready for the second coming of Jesus Christ. + Plus, listen to Crystal Lewis singing "Salvation Belongs To Our God"
