This is a rare interview with an enlisted man in the Singapore military by the name of Malcolm. It is rare because the Singapore Government can sue a citizen for speaking out against them (as explained in this interview) and for that reason many do not share their opinions openly, especially with outside media. But in our interview, Malcolm shares his views on the Singapore Government, gives his opinions on recent events including the execution of an Australian citizen, and explains how and why the Singapore Government controls the media. Malcolm asks me about Black Friday shopping, about the military draft in the United States, how are U.S. relations with Mexico and Canada, and if Americans see themselves as the "gangsters of the world".
Scott lives in Washington D.C. and has created a very good and original musical TV show called "Pancake Mountain". Scott talks about what he considers to be the best and most disturbing things on TV, what people in Washington D.C. are saying about the CIA Leak Case, and what the city of Washington D.C. needs to do for it's citizens. Scott asks me who would be 3 guests that I would like to talk to on the show, if I think advertising is evil, and what's the best restaurant to eat at in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Chris lives in Houston, Texas and does four different podcasts. I ask Chris about the national media's coverage on crime in Houston, what's the political climate in Texas like today, how most Texans view the Bush family, and what people are saying about the CIA Leak Case. Chris asks me is there life after death, who or what has hurt podcasting the most, and what podcast would I consider to be the best unknown podcast.
Kevin lives in Bonita Springs, Florida and is the co-host of Radio Filibuster Podcast. Mark Horner is the author of September Sacrifice, a fascinating book about the Girly Chew Hossencofft Murder case. It's a true story about a decent, hard-working woman, her greedy soon-to-be ex-husband who is a master manipulator, and his new girlfriend/accomplice who believed that reptilian shape shifting aliens live among us. Mark asks me what a person needs to start and maintain a successful podcast, if I think the future of traditional radio programming is threatened by podcasting, and if I wonder where my career would have gone had I stayed on-the-air as an announcer.
Norm is a man of many talents. We talk about his worst moment behind the wheel of a race car and his first experience as a stand-up comic. Norm also talks about his step-son who has Autism, and the myths and realities of Autism. Norm asks me about my personal motto, what career I would have chosen other than radio, and what Hollywood star would do the best job in playing me if there was a movie made of my life.
Peter Reddy is an amazingly talented digital artist who lives in Killcare, Australia. We talk about the similarities between kangaroos in Australia and deer in Iowa, the Cross City Tunnel, loud and fat Americans, which snakes and spiders to stay away from in Australia, and we find out Peter's recipe for tandoori chicken. Peter asks me if I've ever been "star struck", why do Americans want to come to Australia, and if the "fort" at Fort Dodge was like the one from the TV Show "F-Troop".
Gary is the creator and owner of the Podcast Pickle, which is quickly becoming one of the premiere directories for podcasting. We talk about his first car, how the average Texan views the recent legal troubles of Tom Delay, and how the hurricane season has impacted the state of Texas. You'll also hear how Gary came up with the name "Podcast Pickle" and what he feels is the biggest misconception about podcasting.
Charley and Carol host the podcast Israelisms and live in a suburb of Jerusalem. We talk about the wacky things that go on in the country, how safe Israel really is, and the misconceptions most people have about everyday life in Israel. I'm reminded several times that living in Israel is like living in Iowa, and I also learn the Hebrew word for idiot. Charley and Carol are very nice people and are absolutely hilarious.
