Joining us on this episode is Bigfoot researcher and one of the cast of the wildly popular "Finding Bigfoot," Cliff Barackman. This is a great interview and a fun time with Cliff. Cliff Barackman was born and raised in Long Beach, California. Throughout his youth, his interests were drawn towards both the physical and biological sciences, as well as music. While Cliff was navigating his life, a growing interest in the Bigfoot phenomena drove him to travel to other parts of the country to look into the mystery. It was in college that Cliff's interest in Bigfoot moved from a quirky interest to an obsession. Having a sizable break between classes, Cliff started spending time in the college library reading books on his various interests. After researching Bigfoot, he realized that not only was Bigfoot interesting, but it might actually be a real, biological creature. Cliff had been an avid camper all his life, but around this time he started camping with the singular purpose of doing Bigfoot research. On his first expedition to Bluff Creek, California in 1994, he stumbled across possible Bigfoot footprints, as well as tree damage evidence and a possible hair sample. Cliff's interest in physical evidence led him to take a keen interest in footprint casts. Over the years, what started out as the gathering of a few Bigfoot souvenirs has eventually led him to holding one of the largest cast collections in the country. A former member of the BFRO, Cliff's expert opinion, level-headed approach and analytical mind are essential. When numbers need to be extracted for the sake of data analysis, or when a footprint needs to be permanently recorded, he is there to offer his unique skills. Cliff has appeared in various media outlets over the years in regards to his bigfoot experience. He has written extensively on the subject with his work being featured not only on his own blog, but on other websites as well. He has also been featured in student reports, newspaper articles, video documentaries, and more. In 2007, Cliff was contacted to be on the History Channel’s "Monsterquest." The episode, entitled "Legend of the Hairy Beast," Being well-respected in the bigfoot community and beyond, Cliff is often called upon for comments about bigfoot evidence and research. He was the featured expert in news items broadcast to the Portland, OR and Seattle, WA media markets in regards to the infamous Georgia Bigfoot Hoax of 2008 where he clearly stated that it was a falsification. He has appeared on many internet radio shows, and was also a featured guest on "Coast to Coast with George Noory." Cliff is currently being featured in Animal Planet’s new series, Finding Bigfoot. Once again teaming up with colleagues James "Bobo" Fay, Matt Moneymaker, and Ranae Holland, Cliff is traveling the country investigating bigfoot evidence. His expert opinion, level-headed approach, and analytical mind is essential to the team. Mack Maloney is the author of 40 books, including two bestsellers. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He went through public schools there, and then graduated from Suffolk University in Boston with a degree in journalism. He went on to graduate school at Emerson College earning a degree in filmmaking. He then worked in corporate public relations for the General Electric Company before leaving to write full-time. The vast majority of Mack’s work has been in military fiction. However, because several of his highly popular novels deal with the military and UFOs, when he approached his editor about writing a nonfiction book on the topic, he got the immediate go ahead. Mack gathered a mountain of information from many sources and spoke with some highly acclaimed UFO researchers including Jerry Clark, Keith Chester, Richard Haines, and Stan Gordon. He also spoke with a number of his contacts in the U.S. military and people connected with U.S. intelligence services. It took about two years to distill all this information down to a collection of about 70 episodes detailing military encounters with UFOs from 1909 up to the first Gulf War. That’s what makes up “UFOs in Wartime – What They Didn’t Want You To Know.” (Penguin/Berkely Books) The book’s premise is that UFOs have to be real simply because of the sheer number of sightings made by military personnel during times of conflict. People who are in the middle of combat are not about to make up a “flying saucer” story or perpetrate a hoax. In fact, they are often fighting for their lives when they make these observations. In this way, they are the best witnesses possible -- trained pilots, sailors and soldiers, both officers and enlisted personnel. And since World War One, there have been thousands of UFO sightings made by these people. For instance, during World War 2, there were hundreds of reports of "foo fighters,” some from both sides. In the European theater, the Allies just assumed they were Nazi "wonder weapons." Yet when the war was over, the Germans basically said to the Allies: "We thought they were yours." The same thing happened in the Pacific theater with the Japanese. There were no instances in which these objects shot at Allied aircraft or showed any hostile intent. This was also true for Korea, the Cold War and Vietnam. The impression the reader will be left with is that “someone” or “something” watches us closely when we are at war. It's like ‘they’ are intent on watching us while we kill each other.

In 1998 after reading “Monsters of the Northwoods”, Steve like many of the general population had believed that sightings were exclusive to the Pacific Northwest, learned that there were numerous sighting reports close to his residence in upstate New York. Steve began his quest first in 1998 seeking knowledge from other researchers in the field. In 2003 Steve met two of the authors of Monsters of the Northwoods and was invited to apply for BFRO membership. By that time, Steve had his own grass roots organization and website. One of Steve’s first tasks was to examine the Sonoma Video. After Steve had talked to the lead investigator, Steve conducted picture analysis on the videographer’s website where it was determined the time line did not match the photos at all and Steve declared the Sonoma video a hoax on that premise. Several months later it was revealed that the video was perpetrated by the comic duo of Penn and Teller for their cable TV series. Steve exposed the “Georgia Bigfoot Body” hoax and attained information which implicated SFBI CEO Tom Biscarid as being part of the hoax and not being duped as he claimed. Steve also exposed a blog by the name of “Bigfoot Ballyhoo” as a hoax as well, coordinating the tracking down of the real people the site used on the site, to prove the sites claims were a hoax. Steve firmly believes in a “boots on the ground”, methodology of obtaining evidence for or against evidence supporting the Sasquatch mystery. Steve has had three sightings in the last ten years and a handful of what he describes as “most likely, close encounters” with the creatures, after initially entering the field quite skeptical. Steve has appeared on numerous local news programs around the country and national venues such as Fox and Friends, and interviewed in print in over 100 newspapers over the last ten years. Steve has appeared on the History Channel Series, Monster Quest and recently filmed the national Geographic Documentary, “The truth behind the Loch Ness Monster. “ Steve is a former licensed private investigator, in New York and a former retail investigator of 18 years. First created in 1999 as home of the Adirondack research Organization, the site was taken down and remained dormant for over two years while Steve was an investigator with the BFRO.
