Our first podcast interview was with Dr. Philip Slocum, Dean of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, on Jul 17, 2008. Dr. Slocum graduated from KCOM in 1976 and then completed his residency, training in internal medicine and critical care medicine at the Maine Medicine Center in Portland, Maine. He chaired the Department of Medicine at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and was Chief of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine at the University of North Texas Health Sciences in Fort Worth, Texas before becoming Dean at KCOM. His is a Fellow in several major medical colleges and has done leading research on tuberculosis. His interests now revolve around medical education reform. Our conversation was on the uniquely American medical system of Osteopathy and the benefits it offers patients today.
