Everything Blows with Ross and Nick #1 - It Sucks | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:34:22

Ross Campbell is back! From the ashes of the EXTREME challenge, Ross returns to the AudioShocker for a brand new podcast featuring the same ol' conversation! Nick Marino is riding shotgun and Kelly Thompson is a backseat driver as the three friends plow into the massive mess that is the 1990 Captain America movie. Shout! Factory has put this superhero b-movie on Blu-ray for the first time and provided us with a review copy... a review copy that could become yours! We're raffling off this movie to one lucky listener. Here's how to win it: In the comments below, tell us who Marvel Comics and Cannon Films should have cast in this Captain America film. Bonus points for Photoshoping a mask onto the actor's face OR drawing your own artist's rendering. (And remember, this movie came out in 1990! So Tom Hiddleston doesn't count.) But this isn't all about Crap-tain America. We also talk about Ross's exciting casting news (HINT: Guardians of the Galaxy), Kelly's new gig writing an Alfred miniseries, and Nick's progress reading listening to The Girl Who Would Be King.

A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #160 - How To Mail A Ham | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:14:42

After Nick Marino complains about expensive move tickets and crappy theaters, Kaylie McDougal helps him BARF all over the place! ALF s1 e15 and ALF s1 e18 were pretty good. Check out Kaylie's ALF screencaps and Nick's ALF screencaps. Then Kaylie and Nick reminisce about childhood, comparing and contrasting their exposure to strong female characters from the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Nick has a mini geek revelation and Kaylie discusses the presence of religion in her Alabama upbringing. ALSO: Do movies based on TV shows suck? Next up it's the David DeCoteau movie review you've been desperately waiting for! Christmas Puppy (a.k.a. Christmas Spirit) is a weird, boring mess of a movie. Although it fails to live up to A Talking Cat!?! or An Easter Bunny Puppy, it still produces some fucking hilarious screencaps by Kaylie and screencaps by Nick. Next: There's a freaky transformation in ALF s1 e19 and things get psychological in ALF s1 e20. Also, we review After Earth and Kaylie's secret movie!

Sequential Underground #68 - How Colors Can Change | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:15:11

Comic book self-publishers Shawn Atkins and Nick Marino discuss the way that comics can change in appearance as digital colors migrate from the computer screen to the printed page. Shawn and Nick collaborated on the Time Log webcomic, which needed some serious color adjustments the first time it was printed! Shawn is often satisfied with the way that his digital colors look in his self-published comics. But Nick feels like his colors never print the way that he wants, and he struggles to find the perfect way to make color corrections. On the left are Time Log's digital colors as they appear on the computer screen. On the top right you can see the uncorrected digital colors in print. On the bottom right are the colors adjusted for print. With experience working in a copy center, Shawn shares some tips about how to get the best results from a local printer. And Nick shares about his experience using online services like Best Value Copy, which can save you a lot of money if you're willing to assemble your comics by hand.

HyperComboCast #72 - Oh, Hey, Some New Things! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:13:47

Kenny Riot goes solo again for a quick chat about the slight renaming of the HyperComboCast twitter account, Lobo and Batgirl appearing in Injustice: Gods Among Us... ...Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, DoA 5: Ultimate, PS4 and Xbox One, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma, and Shin Koihime Musou: Arcade Edition.

 Sequential Underground #67 - Keep It Fresh | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:00:53

After Shawn Atkins recaps his experience at last weekend's Pittsburgh Comic Arts Festival, he talks to Nick Marino about keeping long ongoing comics fresh and exciting for himself as creator. Shawn keeps it fresh by staying flexible and experimenting with the medium. For years, Shawn has told the story of Kat and Pryor in Gello Apocalypse. He's kept things fresh by letting the art and storytelling of the comic grow along with him, going from short black and white stories to long multi-part tales in color. Plus, he likes to have fun and experiment, trying out new sequential tricks. Nick couldn't keep it fresh! He got burned out by the format of his webcomic. Nick Marino, on the other hand, couldn't maintain his mojo on Super Haters. While the webcomic lives on as sporadic short stories, the long-term narrative became a drag. Nick got tired of the daily grind and the comics's constrictive format. Shawn kept the punch in his comics by finding a collaborator. But burnout doesn't have to happen to you! When Shawn needed a kick in the pants on Explorers of the Unknown, he invited his friend Seth Fronzoli to join him as a co-plotter and scripter. He maintains his excitement by asking his collaborator to surprise him with the scripts.

 A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #159 - Uncanny Valley | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:20:47

Kaylie McDougal and Nick Marino begin with a look back at the monumental career of Cliff Foenander and The Fabulous Echoes, who (as we all know by now) became household names in South Asia thanks to their cover of A Little Bit Of Soap. Then it's time to BARF up our feelings about two solid episodes of ALF featuring Kate's mom, Dorothy. In ALF s1 e13, Dorothy comes to visit and pisses off ALF in the process. In ALF s1 e14, ALF gets back at Dorothy by turning her life into a script for a soap opera. Kaylie made screencaps and Nick made screencaps. After a brief diversion into ALF erotica and Willie's sordid past, we face off against the most confounding and repetitive b-movie ever... An Easter Bunny Puppy. From David DeCoteau -- the creative force behind A Talking Cat!?! -- comes a tale packed full of mystery, teen hormones, painfully long montages, and nonsensical plot developments. Kaylie got screencaps and Nick got screencaps. Next: ALF wants Dorothy to get laid in ALF s1 e15 and he befriends a confused boy in ALF s1 e18 (note that we're skipping episodes e16-17 because they're clip shows!!). And we continue our DeCoteau marathon with Christmas Puppy.

VACANT Bits #14 - Loki and the Bad Boy Trope | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:42:35

Heather and Michelle Nunnelly talk about VACANT's short hiatus. Then they talk briefly about Resident Evil 3 and their new bunny Jiji. Their topic for this week is the bad boy trope. Specifically Loki. Again. This is a response to Doug Walker's video about the character.

 AudioShocker Podcast #244 - Crazy Pants Man | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:24:14

Neal's got a new web app and he wants you to treat him like a pirate. Nick's bummed because his computer crashed and WordPress didn't save his blog post and now he's feeling like a crazy pants man. Also, Nick's become aware of a new Jean-Claude Van Damme project with FashionTV called Luxury Meets Justice, which is being introduced today at Cannes!

 A Podcast with Kaylie and Fawn #158 - Breakneck | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:07:35

Kaylie McDougal is a maniac. Fawndolyn Valentine likes to cuddle with cat ladies in back alleys. And Nick Marino wants to be the Emperor of the North. Then we BARF all over each other as we review ALF s1 e11 and ALF s1 e12, wherein the Tanners go on a crappy vacation and celebrate an awful family Christmas all thanks to the ol' ALFer. Fawn made screencaps, Kaylie made screencaps, and Nick made screencaps. After that, we review the internet sensation known as A Talking Cat!?!, an awful talking animal movie with a cast and crew well-versed in porn. (For example, Kristine DeBell and David DeCoteau.) Fawn made screencaps and Nick made screencaps. Also: Nick needs your feedback! Would you be interested in donating to the AudioShocker through the new Patreon service? And: Congrats to Fawn... she just graduated!! Nick drops a quick update about his work with Daniel Arruda Massa on The Bible 2. And don't forget to fill out our new verification thing when you leave a comment! Next: ALF meets Kate's mom in ALF s1 e13 and writes a soap opera script in ALF s1 e14. Plus, we review An Easter Bunny Puppy.

 HyperComboCast #71 - Deadliest Warrior: The Game | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:54:00

The Hairicane joins Nick to review Deadliest Warrior: The Game, a baffling 3D fighting game available on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade (and on disc for the PS3 and Xbox 360 as Deadliest Warrior: Ancient Combat). It features generic historical characters and bloody fights that rarely last longer than 30 seconds (10 seconds is more like it). And then there's the bonus round where you chop down pig carcasses. NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL FUN! ALSO: No one is playing online matches of Deadliest Warrior on the PSN. AND: After the end theme? Other stuff.

 Sequential Underground #66 - Prints vs. Comics | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:21:02

Scott Hedlund joins Nick Marino to talk about comic book conventions, self-published comics, and prints. Spinning out of Comic Book Pitt #126, Scott and Nick discuss the struggle of selling indie comics at comicons. Even though they began as comic book events, most large conventions are now expensive pop culture showcases for movies, TV, and established properties. While self-published comics featuring original characters tend to be overlooked, questionably legal prints of licensed characters sell like crazy. On the flip side, there are lots of local expos and fairs that favor crafts, zines, and artistic aesthetic over narrative comics. Which leaves us wondering... where do comic book storytellers fit in nowadays? ALSO: Shoutout to Rob Harrington of Ginger Rabbit Studio for sharing his thoughts about prints and comics with Nick at last weekend's Long Beach Comic Expo. PLUS: Why has Tom Scioli quit comics? And is he really done for good?

 A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #157 - Cat Trap | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:41:40

Nick Marino doesn't understand the appeal of shipping characters... so Kaylie McDougal tries to explain it to him. However, both of them totally appreciate the appeal of watching Data and Captain Picard entering into a steamy romance on Star Trek: TNG. That's why Nick is currently writing a fanfic novella about it, featuring a glowing foreword by Kaylie. Then it's time to get your BARF on as Willy makes out with the ol' ALFer in s1 e9! And then ALF buys Lynn a Ferrari in s1 e10. Kaylie has screencaps and Nick has screencaps. Also, we've got these unsettling photos. Last weekend, Nick went to the Long Beach Comic Expo where he filled out a casting form for TBS's King of the Nerds show. Now he's gotta make a video showcasing his nerdiness and he needs your help coming up with a good angle for it! After that, Kaylie goes on a massive rant about how much pop culture sucks and Nick completely agrees. PLUS: thin walls suck. Next: Fawn's back as we take on ALF s1 e11 and ALF s1 e12.

VACANT Bits #13 - Breaking Bad Needs More Gay | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:46:23

Heather Nunnelly talks about the VACANT May update, including the secret origin of Chow Chow Fist's super awesome name! After that, Michelle Nunnelly shares her mixed feelings about The Lion King. Is it good? Is it bad? Is it whatever? Then it's time for the beefy juicy meat of the episode... Breaking Bad needs more gay!! Inspired by Rantasmo's Needs More Gay video series, Heather and Michelle analyze the potential homosexual relationships among Breaking Bad's characters.

 HyperComboCast #70 - Down, But Not Out! | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:53:09

Kenny Riot returns in a solo episode after an unintentional hiatus due to life preventing him from becoming a responsible adult or something to that effect. Listen as he shares his thoughts about the console version of Injustice: Gods Among Us, the upcoming Chicago fighting game event -- UFGT9: Guts -- from May 24-26, the latest version of Divekick, and some other assorted fighting games news. Also, HyperComboCast now has a Twitter account -- @HyperComboCast!! Follow it to keep up with gaming activity and ask questions and other things like that.

 A Podcast with Kaylie and Nick #156 - Slump | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:39

Kaylie McDougal and Nick Marino tear into two confounding episodes of ALF as the Bombastic ALF-tastic Runny Farts (BARF) challenge continues! (Kaylie made screencaps and Nick made screencaps, natch.) In ALF s1 e7, Gordon Shumway remembers his old friends on Melmac decides to leave Earth and fly around the cosmos with them. But he doesn't actually go through with it because that would ruin the entire concept of this sitcom. Things take a turn for the twisted in ALF s1 e8 when Gordon reveals that he has a crush on Lynn. He writes a song for her and makes a surprisingly good music video to go along with it. Meanwhile, nobody seems to think there's anything inappropriate about a 228-year-old alien trying to mack on a 17-year-old Earth girl. After that, Kaylie talks about the 1989 ALF video game for Sega. Listen to learn more about Mr. Grabby Hands and the strange object ALF uses to beat bats. Then Kaylie and Nick discuss their mutual creative slumps. They're not having fun making comics and it sucks. Kaylie's got a bunch of Dinogeddon pages in the can but she's struggling to finish the first act. Nick's got some awesome Super Haters stories on deck, but he's having a tough time focusing enough to finish them up. (Also, he's attempting to reinvigorate himself by retro-redesigning his website.) Next: Willy skydives in ALF s1 e9 and Gordon buys a Ferrari in ALF s1 e10.
