Episode 473: Jonah Bashes Zelda, Gets Snarked | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:52:57

This week’s episode features Jonah being seriously critical of the Zelda series and getting the aghast reactions from his co-hosts (and probably the internet at large). The crew also discusses games on laptops and dreaming about the games they’d played. There’s another Gaming Flashback this week, 2007’s Game of the Year, Yaris. This week’s news includes: Night Trap 25th Anniversary Edition to haunt PS4 and PC players in August Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy spotted with Xbox One controls Dragon Quest XI coming West next year Assassin’s Creed Origins director says game won’t be on Nintendo Switch The Question of the Week: “What game do you play most on your laptop?”

 Episode 472: Peggling Peggles | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:04:09

Last week’s episode was torpedoed by audio issues (who knows, maybe they’ll come back in a outtakes episode), so this week returns with half old news and half new news. The Gaming Flashback returns with a vengeance with the classic Popcap game Peggle — which came out while Gaming Podcast debuted! This week’s new/old news includes: Atari’s ‘PC technology-based’ Ataribox will echo NES Classic, crowdfunding campaign coming PC release of Classic action-RPG Ys Seven announced Possible Xbox One X wireless module passes through FCC New trademark sparks rumours of ‘Nintendo 64 Classic’ console release Also, there’s a Question of the Week — listen in and let us know what you think.

 Episode 471: Nintendo’s Lawyers | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:43

Nintendo is the main focus of this week’s episode, but we can’t discuss the company too much or they’ll sic their lawyers on the podcast. Other than that, there’s plenty of safe things to discuss. This week’s episode includes: Evil Genius 2 in development at Rebellion Nobody can find the source code for Icewind Dale II Breath of the Wild players will learn more about Zelda in The Champions’ Ballad DLC Where are all the Nintendo Switch game ports? Also, learn about who won the contest, which was decided by the roll of a die.

 Episode 470: The Sims 4 Contest Part 2 | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:01:48

The The Sims 4 contest is still going on this week, with the winner to be announced in Episode 471. The crew gets back to discussing news, but as is usual, it’s a light week in July. This week’s news items include: Starcraft Remastered is coming in August in 4K Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot boxes spark pay-to-win fears Only main player will progress in Far Cry 5 story Destiny 2’s getting rid of random perk rolls for loot and the response is divided Nintendo Switch Virtual Console will be the only way you can play certain Super Mario games Again, The Sims 4 Contest is only eligible for US entrants.

 Episode 469: The Sims 4 Code Giveaway | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:27:31

It’s Contest Time, as Gaming Podcast is giving away a swag bag that includes The Sims 4 and some videogame merch from E3. Most of the 87 minute podcast deals with more E3 talk, and 5 minutes spent on news items. This week’s news includes: Everything known about the Ataribox so far Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered standalone release confirmed Gigantic launching in July, escapes Windows 10 Let us know what you thought of E3 this week in the comments. (Must be a continental US resident to win the contest.)

 Episode 468: E3 2017 Recap | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:53:31

Look, we’re back, and as promised, the new podcast is now up and recorded on the final day of E3 in Devolver Digital’s off-site space. Jonah and T.J. hang out near the Fable Fortune booth as they discuss the games they scoped out on the show floor. If T.J. seems a lot more chill than usual, keep in mind he’s enjoyed a few beers by then. Next week will see Scott joining in with his impressions of the conference from afar.

 Episode 467: Reunion Extravanganza | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:58:23

The landmark episode was recorded two weeks ago, but the audio was absolutely terrible, with over a half-an-hour having to be excised. It’s a pity, because it featured both Videogame Roundtable originals Paul Nowak and Jordan Lund guest-hosting for a massive (for this podcast) five-man crew. To make up for it, Jonah and T.J. recorded a half-hour discussion of upcoming games that they might check out at E3. There won’t be a podcast for another 3 weeks, until E3 is over, so for now. Enjoy the podcast, and sorry for the middle hour — the audio cleans up in the last part.

Episode 466: Kill This Kitten For Fun | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:02:54

This episode continues to have some audio issues thanks to Jonah leaving his expensive headset back in Los Angeles, forcing him to use his iPad once again as a mic. However, this week’s episode is chock full of game goodness. This week’s episode includes the following news items: Dragon Quest XI battle system further detailed Overwatch has earned Activision Blizzard over $1 billion in less than a year Steam changes cross-country gifting and gift trading DOTA 2 is getting a co-op campaign with a story Let us know what you think.

 Episode 465: No Frills | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:54:23

This week’s episode is raw and unedited, since Jonah’s laptop got fried. However, despite the audio issues and being posted via cell phone, the gang got off a pretty good show. This week’s news includes: Overwatch pro ends career with stream of racial slurs Don’t expect Kingdom Hearts 3, Final Fantasy 7 remake until at least 2018 DOTA 2 will soon require competitors to cough up their phone number Report: PlayStation VR bundle will come with required camera and one Move controller The Question of the Week: “What kind of VR game would you want to play?”

Episode 464: EA’s Star Wars Battlefront II plans | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:12:41

Since the podcast recording last Wednesday had audio issues and the news was, frankly, boring, the crew decided to record a new 464th episode on Easter Sunday, after some more interesting stuff was announced near the end of the week. That, and Scott expresses his enthusiasm for Thimbleweed Park, the spiritual successor to Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle, using a SCUMM-like interface. This week’s news items include: Diving into Project Scorpio’s backwards compatibility, 4K, VR, and 1080p support Nintendo discontinues the NES Classic Edition It looks like Star Wars: Battlefront II will ditch the Season Pass All that and some Listener Feedback.

 Episode 463: Not an April Fool’s Episode | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:14:51

This week’s episode has nothing to do with April Fool’s Day, since that was a week ago. There’s nothing surprising about the crew this time around, though Jonah does finally give his final (?) thoughts on Mass Effect: Andromeda, and Zelda keeps getting heavy praise. The Persona 5 news item alone spurred a ton of debate. This week’s episode includes the following news: Twitch and YouTube streamers slam Persona 5‘s video policy Total War: Warhammer 2 announced with a new trailer Valve only wants to sell you good games Nintendo might have accidentally revealed that Pokemon is coming to the Switch Let us know what you think of the heated discussions in the episode.

 Episode 462: Nerd Rage | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:58:15

Jonah discusses his renewed views of Mass Effect: Andromeda after his long, long rant last week. It fits in with the theme of nerd rage in the news items, as well as some new games coming out. TJ and Scott talk about the games they’ve been enjoying in the past week as well, as the latter is burning through Pillars of Eternity so he can play Torment: Tides of Numenera and the eventual Pillars of Eternity II. This week’s news includes: Planescape: Torment 4K remaster comes out April 11 First Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer dated for April World of Warcraft has changed how enemies scale, and players are very angry Destiny 2 officially announced, teasing the fall of The Last City Let us know what you think.

 Episode 461: Messy Effect: Andromeda | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 0:57:19

This week’s episode, which has been posted a little late due to life interruptions, has Jonah ranting about Mass Effect Andromeda, which T.J. and Scott pine for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wind. This week’s news includes: Report: JoyCon wireless issues caused by “manufacturing variation” There is a way to transfer Switch save data, Nintendo just doesn’t want you to know Alexander the Great will lead Macedon in Civilization 6 Let us know what you think.

 Episode 460: PAX East 2017 Recap | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 1:20:12

Jonah Falcon is finally back from PAX East 2017, and related his experiences at the convention. Somehow, T.J.’s musings on Dune and the origins of Mini-Me come up during the discussion. Among the games discussed are Snake Pass, Earthfall, Dauntless, and Yonder. There’s also some news discussed: Payday owner Starbreeze to publish System Shock 3 Switch stock and sellouts could be a problem for Nintendo Let us know what you think and post in the comments!

Episode 459: This Week and Last | File Type: audio/mpeg | Duration: 2:01:59

So, thanks to an untimely computer breakdown, last week’s episode could not be run in a timely manner. So, this double-length episode features an off-the-cuff discussion of videogames with no notes, with last week’s episode tacked on. There’s not much editing in the episode, due to the fact Jonah has to rush off to Boston to attend PAX East over the weekend. Last week’s “news” includes: Middle Earth: Shadow of War leaked then announced Microsoft announces Netflix-style gaming for the Xbox One Videogame industry lobbying to maintain “repair monopoly” Microsoft plans to bring mixed reality to the Xbox in 2018 All this and some Listener Feedback
