Summary: Kill Rock Stars is an independent record label founded in 1991 by Slim Moon and based in Olympia, WA. Originally intended to release spoken word seven inches under the "wordcore" moniker, it quickly expanded to become a punk rock rock and roll label thru the release of a compilation, some rock seven inches, and albums and EPs. The first bands "on" Kill Rock Stars included Unwound, Witchypoo, Bikini Kill, and Huggy Bear. Unlike all major labels and many indie labels, profit is not our primary motivation. Kill Rock Stars is dedicated to releasing high quality meaningful recordings in a manner that is fair and respectful to the artists. The system that makes rock stars wants us to believe that we have no choices except the handful they give us but they don't even bother to give us good choices, just lame ones. KRS just wants to give you some good stuff to listen to that actually means something to counteract the empty and boring stuff you see on TRL or whatever.

The melodic pound of Two Ton Boarsquo;s grinding, dual-bass sound is the invention of Sherry Fraser. Classically trained on Oboe, English Horn, and assorted baroque recorders, vocalist Fraser fell in love with the bass and composed over 50+ tapes of material on a four track. Overcoming a dread of exposure that kept her music hidden for years, she played her first show as Two Ton Boa while living in Olympia. WA. Slim Moon at Kill Rock Stars quickly took Fraserrsquo;s beast onboard. Erase Errata is a band from San Francisco, California. Their music draws inspiration from experimentalists such as Captain Beefheart and The Fall, as well as bands like The Minutemen. The possess improvisational tendencies, claiming that they could improvise a whole set if they wanted to. Since forming in 1999, the band has released three albums as well as a number split singles with various other bands including Black Dice, The Need, Numbers and Sonic Youth. They began their career by touring in 2000 with electro grrl band Le Tigre and Japanese noise rockers Melt Banana. They released their highly acclaimed debut in 2001 on the Troubleman label, and followed it up with their long-awaited second album, At Crystal Palace, which came out in fall 2003. They Shoot Horses They Shoot Horses, Don't They? is an 8 piece band from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Their debut album Boo Hoo Hoo Boo was released on the Kill Rock Stars label February 21, 2006. Their startling energetic live shows have won them listeners and even dancers throughout Canada where they have shared the stage with bands like The Unicorns and Xiu Xiu. They have a distinctive noisy oompa sound thanks to a horn section. The band has been compared to the likes of Danielson Famile, Captain Beefheart and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282.
