Summary: UPDATE: I want to thank everyone who helped. We reached the goal easily. I want to say it is interesting that I made this same appeal on my non-activist facebook and got very little response at all. ($5) these are people who have known me for years, sometimes even family. Come over to my house to socialize, etc. I guess you could chalk that up to the fact that many of them are in the same situation but at the same time there is this kind of "wall" up between yourself and those people. It reminds me of the wall that people put up between themselves and the homeless that they walk by as they are walking into the casinos or high-priced stores. Meanwhile, my post on my activist facebook and appeal on my radio show yielded the $600. Sometimes in increments as high as $100. I am still digesting what this means to me but thanks again to everyone who helped.
