Learning From... Vancouver - Trevor Boddy

Canadian Centre for Architecture / Centre Canadien d’Architecture show

Summary: Part of the Learning From... lecture series, Trevor Boddy presents Vancouverism and its Discontents, examining Vancouver’s influential model of high-density housing combined with green space almost 20 years after its radical redevelopment plan. An overemphasis on residential development at the cost of office space has led to an unprecedented suburbanisation of the downtown core. The lecture is introduced by Giovanna Borasi, CCA Curator of Contemporary Architecture. Trevor Boddy is a critic, curator and historian of architecture and consulting urban designer based in Vancouver. His lecture offers a contemporary reading of the coastal city’s unique urban and geographical situation and the issues at stake for shaping its future. Learning From... examines cities and their response to new architectural and urban conditions in a rapidly transforming global economy. Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montréal, 5 April 2007
