Raw Food, Obsessive Thoughts, and Orthorexia

rawhealingpatch show

Summary: Julie Cara Hoffenberg and Sarah Woodward, authors of "The Healing Patch Cookbook," bring you a conversation about orthorexia nervosa. This dis-ease is often seen in raw foodists and is characterized by obsessive thoughts about eating healthy (sometimes to the point of extreme weight loss or death). Because the raw food lifestyle can often place us in the mode of constantly thinking about our intake, and how it differs from others, we think it is important to discuss this topic. How can we, as a raw food community, create a relaxed and free feeling about our food, and prevent much of the unnecessary stress and worry about eating perfect? Please call in with your ideas, your experiences, or comments!
