Delhi, located on the banks of the Yamuna River, is one of the major cities of India. After their independence, a lot of people from various parts of the country came and settled here. Today Delhi has become a major political, cultural, and industrial center. There are a lot of famous political and tourists spots in Delhi. Delhi, being the capital of the country, has many political buildings like the Rastrapati Bhavan ("Presidents' residence"), Sansad ("Parliament building"), and the Kendriya Sachivalay ("Central Secretariat"). Apart from these, other tourist attractions like Purana Quila ("Old Fort"), Safdarjung ka Makbara ("Safdarjung's Tomb"), Jantar-Mantar, Kutub Minar, Garden of Five Senses, Lodi Garden, and Bahai Temple are located in Delhi. On the day of Republic Day, the president of the country addresses the nation at the India Gate. During the ceremony people from various parts of the country perform drills and parades. The parade on January 29th by Indian military soldiers is one of the main attractions of this celebration.
