Obviously Listening

Parenting Today’s Teens show

Summary: (Click title to listen)PODCAST SCRIPT: Recently, while on a speaking engagement, one father asked me this question:  “How do I ensure that my children know I listen to them?”  Good question! When your teenagers are talking about their concerns …stop what you’re doing and listen.  When you pay attention with your eyes, and make time where nothing else is happening… it shows you care about them.  You are listening. I’d also suggest that moms and dads ask follow- up questions… letting your teen know that you were paying attention and want to know more. Think about how you know someone is listening to you.  Then… translate that to your teen.  It’s one of the best ways to build your relationship!   ©2013 Mark Gregston www.parentingtodaysteens.org.
