The Carbohydrates Can Kill Podcast Feed show

Summary: Vera Tarman, M.D. is my featured guest for today’s episode of the Carbohydrates Can Kill podcast. She and I are going to discuss food addiction today and next Wednesday. We have long realized alcohol, narcotics, sedatives, tranquillizers, and caffeine are addictive. However, we have not learned about the potential of addiction to foods because of the detrimental effects of not eating. Nevertheless, we should also be concerned if we love a certain food or foods so much that our life could not move on without them. This is food addiction. Do we see food addiction? Yes, we do, especially regarding sweets or sugars. Many of us downplay the seriousness of sugar addiction by saying that we have a “sweet tooth,” which sounds so common. Now, we realize carbohydrate consumption, especially sweets and sugary foods, is associated with a host of diseases including morbid obesity, diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases among others. Aren’t you curious about food addiction and what we can do to prevent it?
