Summary: Believers, driven from their homes in Jerusalem, were scattered here and there throughout Palestine. They had lost their homes and property, but not their faith. They went as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch. What did they do? They spoke the word of the Lord, at first only to their own countrymen, the Jews. Jesus was a Jew, born of the tribe of Judah. All His apostles, the first converts, as well as the first persecutors were Jews as well. Soon this was to change as Greeks heard and obeyed the gospel. The Gospel Comes To Antioch"So then, those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose in connection with Steven made their way to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews alone. But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who came to Antioch and began speaking to the Greeks also, preaching the Lord Jesus." (Acts 11:19,20)
