PK Lures reports five-star fishing for bluegill in Sloans Lake in Cheyenne. These are some big bluegills, too. How about South Dakota? On lower lake Oahe, the fishing is excellent at Gettysburg. There are a lot of smaller walleye, but some really nice ones too. Lots of northern and smallmouth are being caught also. Anglers are having the best luck with spinners and crawlers in 16-25 feet. Minnows are also working well. Salmon have been hit-and-miss. Look for the salmon bite to take off in a week or so, and plan for some good ice fishing later on in the year. In Ohio, the Ohio Steelhead Drifters would point you toward Rocky River. The water has dropped and the sun is out but there are a good number of fish that have moved into the river system. Swinging and stripping big streamers will be your best bet. For a free report on waters near you, www.fishhound.com (http://www.fishhound.com). Guest Intro Courtney Ogilvie owns the Nile Creek fly shop (http://nilecreekflyshop.com/) on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Surrounded by water and within a spey cast of incredible river fishing in all directions, it’s a pretty wonderful place to live. It’s also not uncommon to have some pretty sensational encounters with wildlife. And when he’s not in the remote wilderness of north and western Vancouver Island or behind the counter at his shop, he’s putting on events like the Spey Clave. In Washington – BOOM! Following the removal of the Elwah dam, the White Salmon dam began to fall this week. Fishing in there – by the way – is closed right now. In Florida, it’s a showdown – anglers who wanna fish wherever they want versus the National Park Service who says they might want to protect certain sensitive areas. Could part of Biscayne Bay get closed to fishing? Maybe. Would that help or hurt recreational angling? Depends on who you ask. In Colorado, the boat ramps are closing for the season at places like Spinney Mountain, Ridgeway and Eleven Mile. Ice-up is comin’. In Mississippi they’re stocking Alligator Gar in Bee Lake to help control Asian Carp. A brilliant idea if you ask me. Restore the giants! In Court - a Roadless Rule ruling might have just opened up pristine wildlands to development once and for all,
