World Girl's Hockey Day

The Central Newfoundland Morning Show from CBC Radio Nfld. and Labrador (Highlights) show

Summary: These days, girls playing hockey is no longer a novelty. Girls aren't just playing, they're having skills development camps, competing in tournaments and going to school on hockey scholarships just like the boys. What's interesting in Central Newfoundland, however, is that there are almost as many girls as boys registered, and the girl's game is growing faster than the boys. Female players in our region will have lots to celebrate tomorrow, on World Girl's Hockey Day. Carolyn Yates is the Central representative for girl's hockey with Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador. I called her in Botwood to find out about hockey day celebrations.
