Write it Down

Reaching Your World with Luis Palau show

Summary: Lately, I’ve been studying Psalm 23. For many, it’s more commonly known as “the funeral Psalm.” But, I’ve been meditating on its relevance for all aspects of life- not just funerals. I think one of the best applications of this Psalm is for someone who is struggling with depression. If that’s you, read this Psalm 23. Pray over it. Think about these words, “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” God wants to refresh your soul! As you’re praying for His peace, I have one other practical tip for you. When something is bothering you, write it down. There’s something about getting your concerns out of your head and onto paper that helps. It puts it in perspective, makes it specific, and often seems more manageable when you look at it there on a piece of paper. Prayerfully write down your thoughts and hurts and concerns. As you do, ask God to show you the best way to work through each one with Bible passages to guide you. It will be a testament to His work in your life when you look back on your journal later and see how God has carried you through each single trial. Read Psalm 23, and write down your concerns this week. As you let God work in your heart, you’ll be better equipped to pass it on to others.
