KindlingsFest 2012 – Dr. Jerry Root – Keeping the Child-like into Adulthood

The Kindlings Muse show

Summary: Kindlings Fest is a celebration of art and ideas and where they intersect with the spiritual.  This years Kindlings Fest on Orcas Island asked, “Can Crabbed age and youth live together?" Through film, talks, panel discussions, art, music and casual conversations we explored what it is that keeps generations apart and what can bring them together.   Each morning at Kindlings Fest, Dr. Jerry Root presented a meditation on the theme. In this Friday morning meditation, Jerry walked through what must be kept of the child in the movement toward adulthood, wherein doubt becomes a freedom that leads to answers others might never receive if the questions weren't asked. What are the elements of the child that must be rediscovered in order to be adults that can cross the generational and cultural divides?
