Designing for Public Policy

Virtual Concerts, a Public Think Tank show

Summary: Everyone says we have all the means to deal with global warming except the political will to effect public policy. Four months after COP15, the global warming conference in Copenhagen, it's clear that politicians and corporations are feeling no pain about any political will to address climate change. This conversation is with Dr. Jim White, director of the Institute for Arctic and Alpine Research (INSTAAR), University of Colorado at Boulder. It is about how to effect policy change about global warming and what to do next. From the 2009 Virtual Concerts II, we recorded and edited some of our conversations for COP15 into "SOS Gulf to Gulf," connecting the harrowing dots, expecting that the obvious would provide a clear road map to action. Now, it's time to critique ourselves and look forward because that didn't work. Can art really move mountains of political inertia? Are we even asking and answering the right questions? Listen and text chat in, or email me directly for an invitation to access the webex site during webcast: ghostnets@ghostnets.com. We have room for 25 guest participants.
