Nilsen actually beat the winners from some of the more famous Idol television shows in other countries, like Kelly Clarkson from American Idol and Will Young from the British version of the show. When he went on Pop Idol, Nilsen had actually been working as a plumber. He was also the lead singer for Fenrik Lane, a pop band in Norway. Since his appearance on television, he has released at least seven different albums, with his most recent album coming out in time for Christmas of 2010. His debut album I came out in 2003, and the international version includes Nilsen's rendition of U2's "Beautiful Day," which won him the World Idol crown. The album peaked at the top spot in his native Norway and landed prominent positions on the charts in five other countries.
