Chainmaille Art

The Central Newfoundland Morning Show from CBC Radio Nfld. and Labrador (Highlights) show

Summary: Chainmaille is usually associated with the garments used in medieval times to protect knights from their sword-weilding foe. The little links must be painstakingly joined together, which is both time consuming and pretty hard work. It's not the type of material we usually associate with art. But Central Newfoundland's Jason Holley does. He uses chainmaille - or raku chain - for his creations. Holley was recently nominated for the RBC emerging artist people's choice award at the Gardiner Museum in Toronto. I reached him this morning at home in Amherst Cove.
