Cranberry Farms in Central NL

The Central Newfoundland Morning Show from CBC Radio Nfld. and Labrador (Highlights) show

Summary: There were already a few cranberry farms in the province when the paper mill shut down in Grand Falls-Windsor in 2009. But once the mill closed, the initiative to get farmers growing berries expanded. With additional funding from the federal government and investment from the farmers, nine more farms have since been started in the Exploits Valley. Those locations are bearing their first fruit this fall. To find out more, the C-B-C's David Newell spoke to Lloyd Warford. He's the Cranberry Initiative Project Coordinator for the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor.
