Summary: French artist Jean Claude Roy first came to Newfoundland more than 40 years ago. He instantly fell in love with the place, and the island's communities became a lifelong art project for him. Now, he's finally published his book, featuring an original painting of every single community on the island. The book is called "Fluctuat Nec Mergitur," a Latin phrase meaning "He who rises with the wave is not swallowed by it." He says that's what Newfoundland means to him.
