Women's Film Festival - Deepa Mehta

Weekend AM show

Summary: Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children will open this year's Woman's Film Festival. It's the screen adaptation of Salman Rushie's epic novel of the same name. It won the Booker prize in 1980 - and is on Penguin's list as one of the best books of the century. Midnight's Children opened at TIFF a couple of weeks ago and is screening at the Calgary Film Festival this week. That's where Chris O'Neill Yates reached director Deepa Mehta.
