China: Is Authoritarianism Compatible with Continued Economic Development?

Summary: Minxin Pei is professor of government and directory of the Keck Center for International and Strategic Studies at Claremont McKenna College. Prior to this position, Pei was an adjunct senior associate in the Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment. His research focused on democratization in developing countries, economic reform and governance in China, and U.S.–China relations.
