The Drive with Alan Taylor show

Summary:
BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason as well as a long-time friend joins Alan to start this episode of “The Drive”. The duo shed a little light on Jay Leno and his article with Haggerty that gives credit where credit is due to the unsung hero, “the mechanic”. Jay just wants to note how we should “cut some slack” to those who work on our cars because it is not easy. Next, BJ shares a little about the struggles of Carvana, the vending machine of vehicles. She suspects that they won’t be around for very much longer. BJ gives a list of vehicles that have the most domestic content. Lincoln Corsair, Tesla Model 3, Corvette, Cherokee Jeep, Dodge Durango, Honda Passport, Ford F150, and Ford Broncos to name a few. Most have at least 80% of their parts made in America. George Kennedy III, Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report, makes a quick pit stop to share what he has been test-driving. The 2023 Chevy Corvette Convertible. It has a frunk as well as a bit of cargo space in the back which George doesn’t recommend putting anything that may melt for it gets a bit hot. Heated seats and steering wheel to a rearview camera and space-aged interior design. Fun car to drive. Next, we have Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror, and board member and Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com. is currently driving the 2022 Ford F150 Lightning, which he is enjoying, however, he also test-drove over the past few days the Kia EV6 which he says made him a bigger fan of electric vehicles. He drove it to and from Las Vegas where he also got to test the 2023 McClaren Artura as well as the 2023 Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica. Both drove fabulously and when asked which was his favorite, Karl couldn’t choose for he was impressed with both. Closing the show with Alan is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com. Brian shares that GM who is making its mark on the electric vehicle world is gearing up to install level 2 charging stations. The Dealer Community Charging program will install over 40,000 charging stations in urban and rural communities. Estimated cost $750 million dollars. The cheapest lease deals for December is the duo’s next topic to which you can see the full list on ISeeCars.com along with the average new car listing prices. Now that new car inventory is slightly up, the hopes of lower costs on used vehicles may go down. Well that’s a wrap for this weeks episode of “The Drive”. Stay tuned for more of what’s new and electrifying in this ever evolving world of auto news.

[00:00:00] – Contributor BJ Killeen[00:06:28] – Carvana[00:13:01] – Domesticated[00:20:53] – New York, New York [00:28:27] – Contributor George Kennedy[00:37:25] – 2023 Chevy Corvette[00:43:46] – Contributor Karl Brauer[00:50:19] – 2023 McClaren Artura[00:56:48] – Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica[01:04:38] – Contributor Brian Moody[01:16:02] – Cheap Lease for December[01:21:09] – Average Transaction Price

CREDITS

Host: Alan TaylorProducer: Dave MilliganCopy Editor: Colleen Mahi Contributor: BJ KilleenContributor: George KennedyContributor: Karl Brauer Contributor: Brian Moody

EXPLORE MORE WITH HELPFUL LINKS:
