War's Not Good For Nature

The People's Countryside Environmental Debate Podcast show

Summary:
“Heard your episode recently about the impact war has on wildlife. In Cambodia, years of war meant some parts of the jungle there were left undisturbed so nature flourished. Cambodia is one of the fastest growing economies in the world now, and man is plundering the jungles resources to fuel that growth. Some say nothing good can come from war, but it seems in this instance, in some ways nature was better off when man was distracted by war. What do you think?”

Stuart and William once again embark on an in depth discussion which was framed around the question above sent in by Ash in Icomb, Gloucestershire, England who is a listener of this podcast.

They discuss how habitats can look the way the do because of man's impact, how our impact can be so violent that even the stronger species often don't stand a chance, and that we don't need the distraction war to have less of an impact on some aspects of nature.

What do you make of this discussion?
