Silence Is Golden

The People's Countryside Environmental Debate Podcast show

Summary:
“Is some people’s reticence to sit in silence, and a preference for busyness, an indication they are fearful of being confronted by their own true self?”

Stuart and William chew over the above question, which was sent in by listener Austin in Bogota, Columbia.

This lead them ask some quite difficult questions. Are we at times scared of confronting ourselves, and is this one of the reasons why we avoid sitting in silence sometimes, keeping ourselves busy instead? Quiet moments can give us time to process what has happened in our life recently don't you think? Yet there are people who regiment their day to day lives, scheduling their whole day from start to finish, with no quiet time factored in, just busy, busy, busy. Doing one thing at a time, and being aware of our thoughts is surely a better way forward, and in itself a modern form of meditation?

Silence often leads to feelings of discomfort, explore that discomfort, and ask yourself when you bring busyness into you life, explore why you are doing that? What purpose does it serve?

In this episode William talks about the Icelandic band Sigur Rós, here is a link to their music if you've never heard them before https://spoti.fi/3ynHLeW

What do you make of this discussion?
