Karl then shares the NACTOY 2022 winners. For the car, it’s the Honda Civic, the truck, it’s the Ford Maverick, and the utility vehicle, the 2021 Ford Bronco. Up next is Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, and Grassroots Motorsports. Steven shared that he voted for the Lucid Air EV for the car of the year. He say’s its spectacular car with 100 horsepower and a 300 mile range. Beautiful exterior and interior along with great technology. He also voted for the Ford Maverick. Steven say’s its an amazing truck. And lastly he voted for the Ford Bronco, though it has some flaws. He also felt the Genesis GV70 is a good vehicle, but it doesn’t move the needle much. The duo chat about what’s new with Daytona and how the cars for NASCAR are being assembled by the teams. Bigger tires and a polycarbonate body are just a few changes happening. Returning to the scene is BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason. She talks about the Volkswagen Jetta GLi with all it’s accents that makes the car look a little more sportier. It’s got a 2 liter turbo with 228 horsepower, 6 speed manual or 7 speed DSG, automatic transmission. She say’s for it’s price of $31k, its definitely a bargain. They talk about how pre-owned cars are what buyers are looking for and that Ford and GM are trying to elevate the buyer experience to make it easier to buy. Alan shares insight as to what he will be doing at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Auction in Arizona. He named a few cars that will be up for auction like a 64 Ford Fairlane Thunderbolt 4 speed, LS7 Powered 1957 Chevy Bel Air, a 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible, a 2016 McLaren 650s Spider, and a 2020 Corvette 3LT Convertible just to name a few. Alan is looking forward to seeing what all will be showcased at the Marketplace, everything auto. Closing the show with Alan today is Brian Moody – Executive Editor of Auto Trader.com. Brian shares that the prices for used vehicles will stay high for awhile due to the cost of a new vehicle. The highest mainstream brands are Porsche, Land Rover, Cadillac, Rivian, and Mercedes-Benz. The lowest brands are Fiat, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Kia, and Nissan. Brian shares his story of buying out his leased Nissan and turned it over for an additional $6k. He then purchased a Volvo XC69 Certified Pre-Owned vehicle. He also shares January’s Lease deals for under $300 a month. The Nissan Leaf EV, 36 months, $1950 down and $185 per month. The Nissan Altima, 36 months, $2600 down and $269 a month. Next the Toyota Corolla, 24 months, $2000 down and $219 per month. Lastly the Kia K5, 24 months, $3600 down and $179 per month.
