The Drive with Alan Taylor show

Summary:

Alan wraps up the “Voices of the Industry” with Brian Brennan – Content Director for Garage Media. Alan asked, “What is your take on SEMA”? Brian say’s he’s glad to be back and to see what’s happening in the industry. The outlook going forward looks optimistic. The Automotive aftermarket and Hot Rod Industry is looking well, even though the electric cars took center stage. The gentlemen discuss the “Garage Media” such as Modern Hot Rodding, classic Truck Performance, and All Chevy Performance. You can find them both in books stores and online. Alan asked when does the car season kick off? Indoor car shows will be towards the end of January 2022, in April starts the outdoor shows. What markets are hot? Classic trucks and everything Chevrolet. Next up is George Kennedy III-Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. They discuss the 2021 F250 Short Wheel Bases 4×4 Crew Cab Platinum edition. George says its got fantastic power management, great traction control and overall fantastic machine. Alan chimes in about his sons purchase of a F150 Hybrid 3.5 liter Ecoboost V6 Twin Turbo with a built in generator. They both agree that trucks are at a premium. They switch over to the BMW 4 series. Alan shared about his purchase of a 2003 SL500 AMG Retractable Power Hard Top that he purchased at Barrett-Jackson Auction. They discuss the 21 E450 BMW 4 series that has a inline 6 motor with 362 horsepower and 369#ft of torque. It’s set up for comfort and can move really well. The only thing George does not like about the BMW 4 series is it’s large grill. George talks about the BMW 430i Convertible, that for it being a 4 cylinder, it’s handling doesn’t need a ton of power to enjoy. With the sports mode, it livens it up. Bringing in the rear is John Hennessey – CEO and Founder of Hennessey Performance. He discuses the “Project Deep Space”. He wanted to embrace his idea and concept while differentiating himself from everyone else. Project Deep Space is a 6 wheel drive pure Electric Hyper GT Luxury Car. The interior design is shaped like a diamond holding 4 passengers. Alan asked if 3D printing is a part of the production of the machine? Yes, it helps the process and allows them to compete with the larger companies. To be able to take their creativity and bring it to the market faster. The specifications on the new Lux car will have adequate horsepower and torque. John says it will be the quickest accelerating 4 seat vehicle in history. Alan shares Hennessey’s other accomplishments such as the TRX Mammoth 1000 Pickup, Velociraptor Ford F150, Exorcist Mustang, 6×6 trucks and the Venom F5 that has been sold out. Join us next week as Alan delivers another exciting show of what’s new and cool in the auto industry.

[00:00:00] – In The Garage Media[00:05:50] – Modern Rodding[00:12:32] – Car Show Season[00:19:53] – Pure Platinum [00:27:43] – Fantastic Machine[00:35:54] – EcoBoost[00:42:15] – BMW 4 Series[00:48:26] – Inline 6[00:54:46] – Sports Mode[01:02:06] – Project Deep Space[01:12:26] – Electrified Concept Car[01:18:06] – Family Values

CREDITS

Host: Alan TaylorProducer: Dave MilliganAudio Engineer: Dave MilliganCopy Editor: Dave MilliganSpecial Guest: Brian BrennanSpecial Guest: John HennesseyContributor: George Kennedy III ...
