Hype Beasts Have Distorted The Watch Game

The HourTime Show show

Summary: Hello and welcome to yet another exciting edition of The HourTime Show, the official podcast of WristWatchReview.com. Your hosts this week are the returning John (@johnbiggs on Twitter), Victor (@vmarks) and Nicholas (@nicholasadeleon). It's the first week of 2022 and John very strongly believes that this, friends, is the year that Everything Will Be Fixed! We shall see.  In the meantime, your pals discuss a handful of watch-related topics, including their thoughts on traveling with expensive watches, why it suddenly feels like many more people are "aware" of watches than 10 or 15 years ago (blame social media), and whether or not Rolex is as big as we think it is. We sorta think that, as big as you think Rolex is, it may be even bigger! We then go over some of the watches we wore over the holidays: John wore a Speedmaster Professional and a Cronos he recently reviewed, Nicholas (as previously mentioned) wore his G Shock and Apple Watch, while Victor wore his Sandos. Victor is also waiting for a chronograph to arrive from eBay, so we'll return to that when he gets it. Next, we discuss a $1500 Shinola that WristWatchReview Managing Editor Patrick Kansa recently covered on the site. "A complete mess," in the words of John. Lastly, we design live on the air a coqui-inspired watch that Nicholas can proudly wear the next time he's in Puerto Rico. Here's what a coqui sounds and looks like if you have no idea what we're talking about. And that, as they say, is that. Thanks once again to Andrew Haworth for producing this week's episode. Keep it locked to WristWatchReview.com and @wristwatchreview on Instagram for more fun watch content. Thank you for listening, and have a great week!
