Summary: <p>Welcome Mutant Goons to our first week of Thanksgorging here on Slashers Podcast! This week Doug and Ade dive into Kathryn Bigelow's debut film Near Dark (1987). This film stars the amazing Bill Paxton, Lance Henrikson, and Jenette Goldstein, whom you may remember starred together in a little James Cameron film, Aliens. Cameron suggested that Bigelow throw in his actors for good measure, and boom, we have a vampire horror western which Doug finds reminiscent of Rob Zombie's The Devil's Rejects. The film also stars 80s favorite, Jenny Wright as Mae, the seductive vampiress, and Jason Patric's little brother Joshua John Miller as Homer. You may know Miller from his horror comedy The Final Girls, as he is now all grown up and no longer a creepy little vamp.</p> <p>Find out why we feel this film is unfairly compared with The Lost Boys, that, while totally butt-fucking awesome, is a completely different film both atmospherically and tonally.
