They briefly touch on the subject and or nightmare, of the chip shortage. Lauren says its around a 210 billion dollar loss in the auto industry. $7 million in new cars and light trucks alone. Alan switches topics on Lauren to discuss the new 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor. Lauren say’s it’s Fords secret, but she knows it’s packing 494 horsepower, 630# of torque in a 10 speed automatic transmission. Lauren also announces that through her “spies”, the Raptor will be rolling on 37″ Goodrich tires. Alan wants to talk about automotive jobs and incentives. Lauren shares how you don’t need a degree to find something fulfilling and reputable. USA Motorjobs.com is willing to train and offer an incentive. Up to $15,000 with certain stipulations that is. Next on their chat list is the North American Car & Truck of the Year that will be announced in January. Lauren says the Tundra is on that list along with the Bronco, to which she feels will take the Truck of the Year. For cars, Lauren is thinking the Kia Stinger or the Mercedes S Class. Up next with Alan is George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report. The gentlemen dive right into Jeeps, Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. Alan got to drive both. He was blown away with the power and all the technology it came with. The Macintosh stereo system alone has the “wow” factor. The 2022 Grand Wagoneer starts off at a cool $87k. The higher end version that Alan drove runs around $109k. George says the Wagoneer’s will have it’s own special treatment in their own special show rooms when they are showcased. BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason is next up to talk about the 3rd generation 2022 Toyota Tundra. She says its new and improved with a new high-strength, boxed, steel-ladder frame and an aluminum-reinforced composite pickup bed. A fully redesigned multi-link rear suspension, 12,000lbs tow capability and a max payload of 2,000lbs. It also comes in 2 different power plants, a twin turbo 3.5 liter V6, 389 horsepower and 479lb ft. of torque or 437 horsepower and 538lb of torque with a 10 speed automatic transmission. Lot’s of payload in a half ton truck. Next on BJ’s list is the Cadillac LYRIQ, an electric crossover vehicle with 340 horsepower and a 300 mile range on a full charge that will be coming out 2023. BJ said that it is already sold out. She shared that Honda is releasing it’s electric SUV, the Honda Prologue in 2024. She threw in a little reference to Germany making hydrogen vehicles to which she believes may be the way to go in the future. Closing the show today with Alan is Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, and Grassroots Motorsports. Steven and Alan talk about how empty the car dealerships are. There just isn’t enough new vehicles to sell. Steven believes chip makers like Taiwan are more focused on phones and gaming systems then they are automobiles. Alan asks what’s going on in the Motorsports World. Steven says racing is winding down by the end of September. You’ve got the NHRA Midwest Nationals @ the World Wide Technology raceway and the Formula 1 running in Russia. Alan wonders how Russia will handle covid mandates. Per Steven he believes there isn’t any. He say’s Russia waved restrictions unless you got tested positive for covid then you won’t be racing.
