A Pod of Their Own, Episode 99: Forget meaningful. Can we get watchable games in September?

Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast show

Summary: Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we begin by talking about the Mets’ horrible West Coast road trip, which furthered their demise and whether there is any reason at all for optimism now that Javy Báez and Francisco Lindor are back in the lineup.  Next, we have a discussion about retired numbers. Should the Mets be more inclusive when it comes to number retirement? And how should off the field matters factor into the decision when it comes to some members of the 1986 team? On our baseball segment this week, we talk about the outcome of Trevor Bauer’s hearing and what might happen moving forward. We also point out that the Mets have “spoken with” the founder of Driveline Baseball, which infamously counts Bauer and Luke Heimlich among its clients.  Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.
