With using autohunter.com and sending a link to Richard Rawlings from Fast and Loud and Gas Monkey Garage who shared it on his social media platform with 4.5 million followers and 2.5 hours later 10,000 views, Alan informs us that he sold his Shelby GT500 for a comfortable 115k. Alan inquires with Messer about the sale of his Parnelli Jones Mustang.  Messer shares that he used the same auto sites as Alan to help with his sale.  Alan shared how the gentleman who purchased the gem was sitting in the waiting room at a Ford Dealership browsing his phone looking at mustangs and Google popped up Alans GT500 and decided to bid on it twice.  This non-collector didn’t care about all the bells and whistles that this single digit serial number beauty had to offer, he just wanted to drive it. Alan and Messer continue about their car collection and plans for them.  Alan’s deep interest in Messer’s Bob Nordskog Datsun 240z car with a converted 350 Chevy engine got crushed when finding out it was sold.  However, Messer explains that collecting so many cars you end up not driving them all and as it sits, things corrode and deteriorate.  Then when you go to sell them, what wasn’t a problem before is now a problem.  Alan shared about his Dodge Viper ACR and his decision to put it on classiccars.com and were able to drop it for $136k. Both men share how much they miss the cars that they sell.  But it’s a lot of work, maintenance and money to keep them up.  Alan shares how he inherited a 2002 Thunderbird and says as he took it for a drive, issues that arose were obviously from it sitting too long without being driven.   The duo change gears and switch topics and talk about the car culture of Florida.  Messer says it’s better than California.  One of the reasons for Florida being a hot bed for car collectors is the taxes. From no state income tax to low registration fees/taxes.   Alan shares with Messer about Autotempest.com to find out the value of vehicles like Messer’s 2005 SRT10 Viper Truck with 565 horsepower.  A great tool when you’re in the business of selling your vehicle.  Alan and Messer talk about how electric cars are great, but we lack the infrastructures needed to support them.  Messer talks about his 2006 all-natural gas-powered Honda and the infrastructures to fill it was basically obsolete.  Alan believes hybrids are the answer for a happy medium.  He goes on to say that people don’t like going to dealerships and the convenience of purchasing your car online is the new way to avoid the hustle.   Used cars are being sold now for the same price it was worth 2 years ago.  Alan discusses how you can buy a brand-new car and then turn around and sell it for thousands more.  Dealerships are in need of vehicles to keep up with supply and demand but that doesn’t mean you get the vehicle you want.
