The Drive with Alan Taylor show

Summary:

Step into the driver seat with Alan this week as he talks about the shortage of cars at the dealerships. Joining Alan is Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member. Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com and Executive Publisher at CarExpert.com. The duo go on about how dealerships just can’t keep up with the supply and demand. They go on to discuss how some second hand cars are going for more than when they were brand new like the Kia Telluride. Finding anything really has been quite difficult, however Karl reminds us that there are tools out there that can help you find what your looking for like ISeeCars.com. France becomes their next topic as they discuss how their claim to have all electric vehicles by the year 2035 is a bit out there especially in regards to the ability to keep a stable electric grid to support the vehicles. Karl say’s that California has but a fraction of electric vehicles and it’s grid is already having difficulties. Karl switches gears as he discusses his likes of driving the Jeep Cherokee Grand L. It’s big and roomy with great handling. Alan takes a pit stop and chats with Josh Hancock – JoshCAR Hollywood Car Consultant. They talk about how a lot of car companies like Rivian, that are producing electric cars, are having huge delays in producing the vehicles. Alan talks about how he was looking into buying a new electric bike and even those are being delayed right now. Josh talks about how for the new movie Cruela, they bought an original 1974 Panther De Ville Saloon car for $100,000.00. Taking shotgun is Brian Armstead – Automotive Journalist, contributor to Car Expert.com and Forbes Wheels. Alan talks about putting his Shelby GT up for auction on AutoHunter.com and what a great website that is to buy and sell cars on. Brian talks about just getting back from the Chicago Auto Show, and how it was the first auto show in 18 months because of the pandemic. One of the cars he saw was the new 2022 Jeep Compass at the Chicago Auto Show and how nice the new design looks. He also saw a prototype of the new Nissan Z and the new Ford F-150 Lightning. The pair talk about how the Ford F-150 Lightning since it’s all electric doesn’t have an engine under the front hood, so that spot is now used as extra storage space. Brian talks about seeing the Kia EV6 and he thinks they will sell every one of these vehicles once they come out. Taking the final lap with Alan is, Steven Cole Smith – Automotive Journalist for Autoweek, Automobile Magazine, Grassroots Motorsports. Steven talks about going to Pikes Peak Hill Climb with Bentley and how much fun it was. Steven rode in a Bentley Continental GT3 at Pikes Peak and he was surprised how well the car was able to climb the mountain. They talk about how next year will be the 100th year of this hill climb event and how it’s most likely going to be quite the show with a lot of people at the event. Downshifting as they come to a close and discuss the new NASCAR car that is coming out in February and how it’s not doing well in the crash tests. They discuss a report saying that if this new car hits a wall head on, the driver will not survive, but this report was quickly swept away after it came out. Steven talks about going to the final SRX race in Nashville. Tony Stewart, Helio Castro Neves, Tony Kaanan, and Marco Andretti are all participants in this race. Alan reminds us that he will be back next week, same time, same channel, with what’s new and cool in the auto world on, “The Drive”.

[00:00:00] – Dealerships Getting Desperate[00:06:53] – ISeeCars.com[00:12:32] – France 2035[00:19:53] – Jeep Cherokee Grand L ...
