The Drive with Alan Taylor show

Summary:

It’s Thunder, It’s Lightening!!! That’s right another electrifying show this week as Alan welcomes special guest, Aron Solomon – Head of Digital Strategy for Esquire Digital. The duo start off with the introduction of Ford’s new electric F-150 called Lightning, and how Ford hurt Tesla’s sales of their electric vehicle by announcing and showcasing their electric vehicle first. They discuss how some people still do not trust electric vehicles and it is partially because of how quiet they are. The go back to discuss how smart Ford is for simply taking their bestselling truck and just making it electric instead of trying to reinvent the wheel on a new design. Alan chimes in briefly about how he wished Ford had not named their Mach-E vehicle a Mustang. George Kennedy III – Co-founder of Cartender and Freelance Automotive Journalist for CarGurus, Boston Globe, and U.S. News & World Report, jumps in the drivers seat and shares his experience in driving a Lexus UX Hybrid which is a subcompact crossover vehicle. Alan and George say that the plug-in hybrid vehicles are the way to go if you are wanting to have an electric car. Alan shares his experience in driving the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe and how he loved it and hated it at the same time. They talk about how you need to make sure you are buying the right vehicle for what you are going to use it for because Alan wanted to put a lawnmower in the back of the Corvette and it wouldn’t fit. George talks about how nice the exterior and interior are on the new Lexus UX Hybrid and how it is a great commuter car. They two discuss how with the new fancy infotainment systems that new cars have is a good thing and that most new cars come with nany systems to help keep you on the road while you are changing the radio station. BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason joins Alan next as Alan shares more about test driving the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Coupe and how it is a good price for having a sports car of that caliber. He likes how it looks, but it draws too much attention for his liking. They continue to talk about the new Corvette and how it is one of the fastest vehicles Alan has driven in recent years, but he really wishes the one he got wasn’t bright red. They two wonder about the future of Corvette and whether or not they will make an electric car or an SUV. BJ takes her final lap as she discusses the new Hyundai Ioniq 5 and how if you are not sure about it you can do a mini lease for 3 months to try it out. Taking the hot seat next is Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Autos Contributor, North American Car and Truck of the Year juror and board member. Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com and Executive Publisher at CarExpert.com. Karl starts his lap as he talks about the Corvette Alan drove and how they both feel like everyone is staring at them while they drive it. They go on to talk about electric vehicles and Karl thinks they are going to continue to grow in popularity but not completely take over the market like some people think. He also talks about driving the Lexus J201 Overland concept vehicle and how there is a new movement about people wanting to not just drive off road but to drive over long distances overland. Karl says this vehicle is designed to go any place, even partially under water so it has a snorkel so the engine can still breath. Gears still spinning? Engine still running? Need more fuel for that fire? If so, join Alan next week as he and his guest shift gears and take us for another spin around the block of what’s new in the auto world here on, “The Drive”.

[00:00:00] – Lightening Strikes Twice[00:06:12] – Trust Issues[00:12:30] – Why a Mustang?[00:19:50] – Plug-In Hybrid the Way to Go![00:28:44] – It’s a Love/Hate Kinda Thing[00:35:50] – Infot...
