The Drive with Alan Taylor show

Summary:

Welcome back Gearheads! This week Alan welcomes special guests Lori Scholz – Sr. Manager of Public Relations for Hyundai Motor America and Sue Mead – Automotive Writer. Alan starts off by sharing his news of becoming the voice for Classicars.com. He then switches over to share a story about his friend, singer Richie Flieger who was looking for a new car and Hyundai let him borrow a Hyundai Tucson to which he instantly fell in love. This is coming from a man who has access to vehicles that would blow your doors off. He say’s it’s an amazing compact SUV with great gas mileage. Not to mention he got a great deal with 0% interest for 60 months and 10 year/100,000 mile warranty. Whew! The trio discuss how the new model is a bit bigger and longer with more cargo space. Joining Alan next is Karl Brauer – Automotive Industry Analyst, Forbes Auto Contributor, NACT of the year juror and board member. Executive Analyst for ISeeCars.com and Executive Publisher at CarExpert.com. They talk about the Borla exhaust system that Alan just put on his Jeep Gladiator Mojave and his new Shelby GT. They switch over to discuss Toyota’s Mirai which runs on hydrogen. The vehicle looks great, and it’s great for not polluting but not yet practical for everyone because of the lack of fueling stations. BJ Killeen – Automotive Journalist and Voice of Reason jumps shotgun as she and Alan talk about his new role with Classiccars.com. Alan switches gears and talks about Dodge and their new electric vehicle that will go from 0-60mph in 2 seconds. Jumping Junipers! They go on to discuss Fords next generation truck the Maverick. It’s design to be a work truck and how it can haul 4,000 pounds with a tow package. Brian Moody – Executive Editor for Autotrader.com brings up the rear as he talks about some of the best lease deals on new cars and how sometimes leasing a car is better than buying one. Alan and Brian go through Auto Trader’s list of best pre-owned certified luxury cars and non luxury. Brian says Lexus is the winner of the luxury category and Kia won for the non luxury category. He say’s buying a certified pre-owned vehicle is better then buying a pre-owned vehicle from a private party because you get the manufacturer’s seal of approval saying they inspected the car and it still has a warranty. They close the show with Auto Trader’s list of 10 best compact cars under $5k. Lot’s of miles but still reliable. Join us next week for another gear grinding experience with Alan and his guest on, “The Drive”.

[00:00:00] – The Voice[00:06:31] – Richie meets Tucson[00:12:31] – Compact and Amazing[00:19:53] – Exhausted![00:29:39] – H20 the new way to go[00:35:54] – Not Yet Practical[00:42:15] – Classiccars.com[00:48:42] – Maverick[00:54:47] – 4000lbs [01:02:07] – Lease or Buy?
