Could Sharing A Pizza Prevent A Suicide?

K-LOVE News Podcast show

Summary: By Richard Hunt Physician Matthew Sleeth has seen most every situation that requires an emergency room visit, including people who have tried to take their own lives. He believes that we are now experiencing a “culture of suicide.” To a large degree, hope depends on ‘the church’ and individual Christians who are willing to share and listen. “One of the problems, and particularly in the last year as a country and as a world, is isolation. And as we’re beginning to come out of that, I think we’ve got to be intentional about extending hospitality to others. You know, you can go to a church and feel isolated, but when somebody says, ‘Hey, how about coming with me to get pizza or coming to my house for a meal,’ that’s a very powerful invitation.” By doing so, you might keep a person from harming themself by providing some comforting conversation, perhaps sharing your own struggles and solutions, and if the time feels right, sharing about your relationship with Jesus.
