A Pod of Their Own, Episode 81: From Flushing to Hollywood

Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast show

Summary: Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we have a conversation with fellow Amazin’ Avenue writer, Grace Carbone. We had planned for this to be a fun episode about films, but of course we had to begin the show by discussing the latest reporting in The Athletic about the Mets’ toxic culture and the years-long poor treatment of women by the front office. But ultimately this was mostly a fun episode about films. We chat with Grace about the upcoming Oscars—her favorite films and performances of the year, her predictions, and our favorite categories. We also each name our favorite baseball films. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. It really helps! And you can find us on the Stitcher app, Spotify, or listen wherever you get podcasts.
