A Pod of Their Own, Episode 76: A conversation with Deesha Thosar

Home Run Applesauce: A New York Mets podcast show

Summary: Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, a show by the women of Amazin’ Avenue where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.  This week, we welcome Deesha Thosar from the Daily News to discuss covering the Mets and her observations from spring training.  We also had to talk about the tumultuous offseason including the firing of Jared Porter and Sandy Alderson’s handling of the situation. You should definitely read Deesha’s piece she wrote the night the Porter news broke to get her perspective of what it is like to be a woman working in the baseball industry. We turned to some lighter subjects including her viral tweet of the team celebrating the 27 outs drill, her favorite story of the time the team plane was delayed because of Dom Smith, and the article she wrote after Mickey Callaway threatened a reporter. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.  You can listen or subscribe to all of our wonderful Amazin’ Avenue Audio podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show.
